the reason i like staying up late so much is because between the hours of 1am-5am, the world is quiet and no one expects anything from me. i could stare at my wall for 4 hours and there would be no consequences. it’s so silent and calm. i love it

A peek inside the walls of Edmonton’s new Ice Castle. The massive Narnia-like Ice Castle is taking shape at Hawrelak Park and will be open to the public in late December.

I know you’re in me In my soul In my veins I know you’re flowing inside me And I’m never gonna lose you Just for selfishness Instead I’ll fight for us Because I know This is worth fighting for Because to me You are always in my blood Only you, my dear Can travel as far Only you can happen to me

The new and larger library is mostly completed! (Except for a few small touches, this is it!)

My books are a mess and completely out of order but I’ll get around to that. It’s much bigger and you know what that means…more books I can buy ;)

My mum has been amazing in doing this room and getting it all finished so fast. Truly grateful for her and the library!

I’m going to go and read now :)

ooh ive been planning on reading the lumatere chronicles by melina marchetta for a while now!! what are your thoughts on it? ive never read anything by marchetta tbh

Avatar

YES YES YES I LOVE THE LUMATERE CHRONICLES PLEASE READ IT

it’s a high fantasy with amazing worldbuilding!! the characters are beautiful and their relationships are beautiful and i’m wayyyy to attached to a certain couple that i don’t want to spoil you

Melina Marchetta is probably one of my fave authors!! Like I said, her characters and their relationships are beautiful and real and heartbreaking. Her books are a must read tbh i loved all of them here’s a list

  • The Lumatere Chronicles (Finnikin of the Rock, Froi of the Exiles, and Quintana of Charyn)–again, high fantasy, you will become attached to all of the characters (her only novels that aren’t realistic fiction btw)
  • Jellicoe Road (THIS BOOK WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE TBH WHAT CAN I SAY IT WON A PRINTZ PRIZE, I LOVE TAYLOR MARKHAM, BOARDING SCHOOL, LITTLE BATTLES BETWEEN ““FACTIONS”“)
  • Saving Francesca and its sequel/companion novel The Piper’s Son (I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS JUST. THIS AND JELLICOE HAVE THE BEST SET OF CHARACTERS/FRIENDSHIPS)
  • Looking for Alibrandi (her first novel which is kinda underrated, to me not the best but it’s still worth a read this one is pretty heartbreaking 3 )

THIS HAS BEEN A PSA: READ THE MARCHETTA

I LOVED Jellicoe Road. It's hard to get into at first but by the end you'll want to re-read it. One of the only books I've read more than once
