How to hold millicent

this won’t get 1% of the women’s version of this post. 

the world we live in, and people in general don’t care about men. we are pretty much robots who aren’t allowed to show emotion. we’re taught from a young age that boys don’t cry. 

fact is women are sexualised, men are idealised. because men can’t be raped because they’re big and strong right? right? yea, pretty much the idiots view of living.

I have always said that attacks like rape or physical violence can happen to men as well as women - it’s a screwed up world that claims only a woman can be raped but because it’s not taken seriously men who have been attacked by a woman are belittled for not being a ‘man’ so they don’t report it.

Men are actually the majority of victims of regular violence. When it comes to abuse, there’s a lot of evidence indicating women are about as likely to be physical abusers as men.

And that’s before we even get into how common mutual abuse is.

The prejudice in question here is not just against men, but in favor of women. Female privilege, if you will. “It’s not real rape/abuse when a woman does it/a man’s the victim”. 

And it’s not just belittling. If a guy calls the cops on an abuser, there’s a good chance he’ll end up arrested. By policy that all but explicitly says to discriminate.

Some places, like the UK, say women cannot commit a crime recognized as rape. It’s just sexual assault.

Taking a break from the usual Megamind awesomeness to repost this reminder that, regardless of gender, no always means no and everyone has a right to self-respect.

This is a heavy post, but the issue still needs to be talked about

the thing about adulthood is when someone says something extremely rude to you, you can either turn the other cheek or calmly & firmly correct them. The third option is to tell them “say that again, I’ll bite you” & everyone sort of nervously laughs and tries to move on from your little joke. Which is why I think it’s very important that when they do say it again you follow through. Nobody actually expects you to bite them. We should be biting more.
