The reason we don't have massive pandemics isn't because of goddamn paranoia and panicking as soon as something happens, it's because we now have a strong scientific understanding of how contagions work, detecting and screening them when outbreaks occur, and using technology to sequence, study and eventually vaccinate against dangerous pathogens. Spanish Flu got as bad as it did because people were popping Aspirin as if it was a cure-all and most of the world still had no clue how the virus spread and subscribed to Miasma theory.
Maybe it's not apparent to you, but paranoia and panic ISN'T fucking good during a health crisis, especially if the country where the virus originated from is the one currently in front of the barrel of the US' geopolitical propaganda game. The WHO is asking public officials to refer to the virus as nCoV rather than "Wuhan/China coronavirus" due to the stigmatism and bigotry that can come to Asian people, specifically Chinese people, especially in an age where white supremacists are using the rhetoric that immigrants and people of color cause pestilence, ESPECIALLY at a time where the Trump administration is engaged in a proxy war with China. Need I remind you of the paranoia against African people during the Ebola outbreak, or against Latinx people during Swine Flu?
So no, I strongly disagree. There is no need to panic, we have studied it significantly enough to determine everything from it's genome, to it's infectivity and mortality rate. Being a paranoid fucker over a SCARY FOREIGN DISEASE has historically shown to fucking do more harm than good. The last 4 major disease scares ultimately lead to no horrible pandemic, and the fear-mongering ended up fucking over people solely because they were minorities.
I don't need a goddamn doctorate's in epidemiology or microbiology to tell you how much of a dumb fuck you and your asinine, dog shit logic is. Go kick yourself in the ass.
