I think "they don't even have X" is one of those memes that's actually funnier in its original context than in anything that's been done with it subsequently. Like, in its original context, this is a joke about a man who has lived his entire adult life alone in a swamp cold-reading the atmosphere of a corporate workplace and deciding that appealing to the receptionist's sense of working-class solidarity is going to get him in the door, and it fucking works.

Tala still has hope to live in safety, far from and violence.

She dreams of a world where she can grow without fear, where her laughter isn't overshadowed by conflict.

Help Tala find a path to a secure future and start a life filled with peace, where she can pursue her dreams and build a brighter tomorrow.

Together, we can make a difference.

Urgent Appeal for HelpGazaChildren: Help refugees flee to Khan Younis!

Because of the looming invasion and brutal bombing throughout the most densely populated area in Gaza, Rafah, many refugees are looking to evacuate to Khan Younis!

The bombing is random and even the areas not included in the evacuation notices are bombarded. Many refugees are asking Hussam for funds to help them evacuate to Khan Younis to help keep their families safe.

The above is a screenshot of a facebook post from someone in Rafah. A tent can be as much as $700 and the transportation costs anywhere between $250-$400 per family. This cost is primarily for gas alone!!

Please donate so that people may be able to evacuate while also being able to afford basic necessities.

Even if you're unable to donate, please share this post and the fundraiser even outside of tumblr and on other platforms! This is incredibly urgent!!

Donate to our GoFundMe which goes directly to Hussam, who manages camps in Rafah, with NO middleman in between!

Obviously boycott Eurovision, but glad to read elsewhere it’s descended into chaos.

Netherlands suspended from rehearsals, organisers panicking, audience booing drowning out the singer from Israel, Italian singer apparently singing ‘imagine’ outside the venue in true cringe fashion.

I have not been watching, and I won't tonight if not to make sure I can retweet information about Gaza and Palestine using the tag, I won't be voting, but I have seen the chaos. The things you said are nothing compared to:

  • Israeli delegation filming Joost in secret because Joost requested to not be filmed by them and tried to stay away, they mocked him and basically ignored his lack of consent
  • Israeli broadcaster KAN misgendering the non binary Irish artist
  • Israeli delegation harassing people of the Netherland delegation
  • People booing Israel, Eurovision trying to use anti booing technology
  • People booing the ORGANIZER (first time it ever happened)
  • The EBU website down for about three hours
  • Israeli delegation saying that the Irish artist should not come close to them or breath when they are around

also voting has been delayed with no starting in sight lol

Shoutout to @grimreapersprint for actually exploring/explaining each of these in our discord! Here are her findings:

  • Forest Synth - Legit
  • Dirtstep - technically yes, and it sounds exactly like what you would expect
  • Grassgaze - I found one song and it’s strangely ominous
  • Leprechrust - No, which honestly surprises me
  • Flowerviolence - real and sounds like crap
  • Shroom N’ Bass- This is just Hardbass with extra steps
  • Mushroom House - Legit
  • Moss Rock - sounds kind of like older bluegrass listened to from a distant cavern except extremely loud
  • Shiny Rock - Sounds like if you gave a Nirvana cover band a fistful of molly and shrooms
  • Garden Core - Sufjan Stevens on a near-lethal dose of Xanax
  • Cavern Core - Sounds like cookie monster started a garage band in an abandoned aircraft hanger
  • Treewave - The one song I found sounds like getting a severe concussion in the middle of a house track
  • Birdsong - gentle chirping backed by a hurdy-gurdy the size of a volkswagen beetle
  • Whistle Choir - Unable to disambiguate
  • Subterranean Folk - yes if you count underground folk, which absolutely sounds like gnome music
  • Dark Underground - this sounds what executive dysfunction feels like
  • Deep Underground - Hardbass with fewer steps OR chugging an entire bottle of cough syrup and then trying to pull off a jazz drum solo while someone plays a keytar in the background
  • Darkdeep - No
  • Earth Metal - Just because you CAN daisy-chain three distortion pedals together doesn’t mean that you SHOULD.
  • Star Metal - This is actually kind of a complicated subject and beyond the scope of this review
  • Rootbop - no, which is a shame
  • Meadowpunk - found one song about bitching about condos
  • Solarpunk - Noting the above exception, most “-punk” musics are different genres with songs about/atmospherically designed to fit the aesthetic of what is more of a social/visual aesthetic
  •  Moonpunk - See above, but if it existed it would sound like rockabilly
  •  Hill N’ Roll - No
  •  Stump Stomp -No, which is kind of a shame, really
  •  Woodwind - literally a category of instruments

I know someone who calls herself a feminist, puts her pronouns in her work email signature, donates money to women’s empowerment funds, and thinks we should deport more refugees. I also know someone who calls people ‘pussies’ when he plays video games, who doesn’t know what a pronoun is, and, for his defence of low-wage women workers in a highly-exploited industry, is a better, more strident defender of the rights of working-class women than almost anyone else I know. Of these two people, I know who is on my team, and who I want on my team, yet the standard liberal feminist calculation would have me chose the woman who loves a little deportation over the man who is occasionally uncouth, solely because the woman knows to keep her language civil, and the man doesn’t. Liberal feminists get incredibly caught up in the politics of language, because language is all they have. They don’t have a revolutionary programme for overthrowing patriarchy, so they’re forced to tinker around the edges of it, quibbling over word choice and jargon instead of building the coalitions necessary for destroying patriarchy.

yea.

Thinking about the two (male) coworkers I had a few farm jobs ago, one of whom was a very well spoken and politically knowledgeable self reported socialist who was nevertheless urging me to stay silent about the lower wages I was receiving so I didn't compromise his job. The OTHER one was a foulmouthed nineteen year old who didn't know what trans meant (but listened VERY well when I talked about it) and was absolutely up in arms about the wage inequality, and honestly any injustice in front of him. I'll let you guess which if them I'm still in touch with
