SO i’ve made a decision (a good one, i think) to revive my MULTI ACCOUNT. i’m going to do some tweaking because it’s always just been a rule!63 multi, and i want to add some canon muses. BUT YEAH so i’ll be doing that today! i’ll pop back over here before work, most likely.

NOTES ABOUT ELLION’S EDUCATION :
the only real ‘education’ ellion received was before his mother’s death. but since she died when he was five years old, there was very little she was able to teach him. he barely knew how to read, and arithmetic was only slightly dabbled in. she taught him much about music, however, and even as such a small child ellion was beginning to show promise of a fine future in such artistic endeavors. when his mother died, however, all teaching of ellion ceased. when his stepbrothers and he reached the proper age for village schooling and tutoring, ellion was left behind. his stepfather declared music to be a useless skill for a man to learn, so he forbade his sons –– ellion included –– from dabbling in such ‘nonsense.’ all of that, however, did not stop ellion from trying to learn. if he could do so without being noticed –– they’d send him away if they did –– he worked quietly in rooms where his stepbrothers had their lessons, and he’d listen and try to retain and understand as best he could. he hid some of his mother’s music and fairytale books under a loose floorboard in the kitchen, and he’d refresh his musical education and try to teach himself to read whenever he could find free moments. when he marries the princess, however, he is still largely illiterate and mostly unlearned in ‘princely’ areas of study –– or any areas of study at all that did not assist him in his work about his stepfather’s home.

what an idea: all magical creatures being real. all the FAIRYTALES from childhood being believable, all the impossible IMAGINATIONS detailed by mama during bedtime STORIES and forest meanderings becoming quite possible? what an idea indeed. “my name is ELLION, m’lady.” he returns her SMILE softly. “and... what is this fellow’s name?” he brushes back more of the snow-white mane, entranced by the ETHEREAL beauty of the creature.

perhaps he had spoken too quickly. to bring the boy’s mother into the conversation, when his relationship to her was COMPLICATED to say the least, was perhaps a foolhardy endeavor. yet the boy was, in all likelihood, his son and it took every last OUNCE of restraint not to tell him so outright. with a rueful smile, he nodded, shifting a little in his seat “ I knew her…very well indeed. she was the most remarkable creature that I have ever been blessed to have in my life. the most pure and sweet soul, with more BRAVERY than many could even conceive of. ” he had loved her, desperately so. enough that they had planned to marry after the war and, had he not been declared DEAD, he had little doubt they would have. it still hurt his heart to think of her and the life that could have been. Ellion could have been raised in a house where he knew how much he was loved, could have had the childhood that he so RICHLY deserved, rather than the nightmare that had befallen him.

it was REMARKABLE to hear such things about mama. he barely remembered her, though those MEMORIES had often been the only sustenance in his STARVED life: a balm to soothe aches and burns and hurts in constant onslaught. he would remember her smile or her TOUCH or her voice, tucking him into bed or teaching him SONGS or holding him tightly as they rode her STALLION together. to ellion, she had always been and would always be the BEST of women –– but she was such to no one else, the SCANDAL revealed after her passing too much for singular-minded villagers, ENTRENCHED in propriety and tradition and decency, to forgive.
“i –––––– i’m sorry. she... she never M-MENTIONED you, sir. i... didn’t know who you were when you came.” it would have made no DIFFERENCE if ellion had known him. though none of this relocation and EXCHANGE was his choice, he knew in the most DESPERATE recesses of his starved heart that he would have gone with ANYONE who offered to take him away from his stepfather’s house. but he was pleased to think that MAMA would be pleased with this man, this fellow with whom she had apparently SHARED such AFFECTION and confidence, taking charge of her son.
