Save Me!!! Shiny Suited Ace Bloom

I mentioned it a few days ago, but say hello to the visual novel I've been working on! It's called "Save Me!!! Shiny Suited Ace Bloom" and this is the title screen I currently have for it (which will hopefully be the only art I'll post that also appears in the game, I don't want to spoil all of it, this just felt like a good illustration to lead with).

Meet Ace Bloom! Normally she's just a regular ol' college student by the name of Jasmine Jackson, but upon being "given" a magical card, she gains the ability to transform into Ace Bloom! A name which I told one of my friends and then they turned to me and said "oh, is it cause shes asexual" and I hate being called out like that.

The visual novel follows her as she tries to unravel the secrets of being a magical girl, find whoever is in charge of the monsters that keep attacking her city, and maybe find the girl who used to be Bloom.

I'm having a lot of fun working on this project. The first draft of chapter 1 is finished, I started chapter 2, and I'm slowly getting through the art needed for both chapters. So hopefully I'll be done with both of these chapters soon and be able to release them both to kick it off!

You know I hadn't read the great Gatsby in a while, and after reading Zelda Fitzgerald's Wikipedia page, I was ready for a lot of racism, but that racism in chapter one was honestly still a surprising slap to the face

Finished the first chapter of Ulysses. Stephen comes across as a little Literature degree twat. So no wonder he barely has a job

Just read the Yellow Wallpaper and thinking about how the narrator doesn't identify herself as the woman in the wallpaper until after she has torn it all off, claiming that identity only after she has freed herself

Going from reading Ulysses to just a page of Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier like omg I forgot language could make sense

"Hey google. Ulysses Sigmund Freud"

Hey Stephen. Stephen. Can you be normal about women for two seconds? No? You have to talk about how her breasts are small, she doesn't pay you enough attention, and her "unclean loins"? Alright bro glad to understand you'll be weird about this for the whole novel

"The islanders speak frequently of the collectors of prepuces" why. Why phrase it that way. What do you even me. Just say men that fuck around. I'm assuming that's the meaning bc I looked it up but my God I don't even know anymore

One of the more interesting things about this book seems to be that it'll just slip in and out of first person narration within a paragraph. It's interesting though hard to follow right now, I'm gonna try to notice a pattern for it

Buck Mulligan is like "well why can't I make literary references about your mom's death and call you the mommy killer? You didn't pray for her so now you can't criticize me. Honestly, the nerve of you. And stop being emo!" Like wow what a character

I love looking up a word or phrase in this book and the first response being a page explaining this book. Like they know I'm not looking for gunrest and "epi oinopa ponton" for any other reason
