Usagi Shima & Bungou Stray Dogs #4

I was planning to post this later but Open My Eyes to Everything (There Must be Something More) by the awesome @zinder-fox just updated & it’s Atsushi’s birthday as well!!! So here we are!!!

Bunzai hasn’t been able to touch the actual Tiger so this XXL Tiger plush will have to do 😌. And hopefully it & BunSushi will distract Bunzai from trying to give everyone food poisoning. BunChuuya has found himself a nice tree stump. His senpais are all here, BunAku is overjoyed!!! A nice & relax outing for every buns!!!

Also I totally recommend everyone gives Usagi Shima a try!!! It’s such a cute little game for IPhone & Android users!!! The artist + dev is working super hard to make a Steam version for this too!!!

Normally I'm an og AlbeCale shipper, but a RokCale Tangled AU would be really funny.

Imagine the scene at the bar with ogCale as Rapunzel, singing about whatever his dream is. Growing trapped in a tower and being he who he is, I can see it being the same that the movie or something related to freedom or a family.

Then someone asks Rok Soo what his dream is and he is like—

Rok Soo: Slacker life.

Griphook guy: excuse me?

Rok Soo: I want my slacker life.

Also, like Rok Soo is Rok Soo, instead of being two people traveling, they're four. Because Lee Soo Hyuk and Choi Jung Soo were the other two commiting crimes with him and they are not betraying their donsaeng. Enter into that suspicious tower? It was their idea.

Plus, Raon can be part of their group.

Then you have Barrow as mother Gothel. Guy kidnapped Cale when he was little to use his powers for him. He also wanted to see if there was anything else Cale could do with his powers besides healing + immortality. He's busy running his secret organization, so he didn't realize when Cale started to be more wary of him. Or that Cale's pets are actually beast people.

Ohn and Hong play the role of the chameleon. They had been living in the tower with Cale for a while before this guys broke into their house. They're fine with it because anything that puts distance between Cale and that bastard is good in their books. They're also the ones that helped Cale realize that whatever Barrow wants, it's not good for him.

Idk about the horse tho. Maybe thy can have an Archie instead.

Btw, Cale still can be the Count's son instead of a prince. Because Rok Soo would steal a rich Count's money rather than the crown of a royal family. Is less dangerous and easier to use. Where would you sell a crown, anyways?

Bonus:

Raon: Human, this red guy looks familiar!

Rok Soo: (he has been trapped here for ages, where would he even know him? Mm, let's ignore it for now)

Two persecutions and almost a whole movie plot later,

Raon: Human, I remember it! I know why he feels familiar. Shiny Cale looks a lot like the red haired lady of the Count's portrait!

Rok Soo: ...

Soo Hyuk: well, shit. That explains a lot.

CJG's reaction right before the soul-swapping thing:

CJG would be exasperated. Saying, GoD fking dammit KRS! I wrote so many things in detail so you'll survive in that world! (Granted he made the guidebook for CJS but still—!) And you napped before you finished it? You didn't know about the final boss? You're gonna get yourself killed!

Then he sees KRS as Cale vibin, powering through everything, smashing things left and right like a shounen protagonist.

CJG:

CJS and LSH would chuckle, pat their senior's back and introduce him to their crazy punk of a dongsaeng. Maybe they have coffee while telling about their time in the company.

CJG will have an eye opening experience after that.

My piece for the @lcfzine2022!!!!!!!

The first time I drew these boys was over two years ago and I've been enamoured with them for even longer, so it was only fitting to draw the Soos for this project with how dear they are to me :') <3

The full zine can be downloaded digitally for free, so do be sure to give all the contributors some love for all their amazing work!!

I had an idea where KRS, since he lived in a city where public transportation was always available and had no one to teach him, doesn't know how to drive

So, after the apocalypse happens and cars become the main transportation, CJS and LSH make it their mission to teach him how to drive by making him their get-away driver (after teaching him the basics, of course).

After all, why learn how to drive normally when the world has gone to hell and speed is everything?

And maybe this could even translate to LCF carriages, where maybe one day, Cale has to drive a carriage due to reasons left to the imagination and everyone's like ??? How in the hell do you know how to handle a carriage and why are you such a reckless, crazy driver? How can you dodge so many things and not get hit??

Meanwhile CH and Alver are in the background watching the chaos with amusement

Idk, I just think that this would make for a great crack/comedy 5 + 1 fic

Me thinking about how Kim Roksoo couldn’t keep any friends throughout his school year because of the curse from the GoD. Always leaving him no matter how hard he tried to keep them.

Also thinking about how Lee Soohyuk and Choi Jungsoo also probably introduced him to basic things friends do for each other.

KRS staying in the office finishing up paper work - or whatever he did in the office while under LSH - instead of going to lunch with his teammates. CHS waiting for him to finish up even if it take him 30mins before he’s ready. Then going to lunch with him late.

Or showing up to a company dinner with all the seats full at the restaurant. Him thinking about turning around and going home only to find out LSH especially made sure a seat was saved for him even if that caused conflict elsewhere.

I can imagine him feeling all ‘warm and fuzzy’ inside. Being confused with why they were doing these things for him. (Despite ‘those things’ being basic things all people would do with their friends)

The GoD’s curse is so unimaginably cruel even diluted. It also puts into perspective how tough it must have been for KRS after LSH and CJS died. Thinking about the Soo dynamic from when they were together on EARTH 1 always makes me sad.

Kim Rok Soo didn't transmigrate, he died in the attack where he was meant to and reincarnated as one of the orphans in Toltz territory.

With his sticky fingers and predilection for sticking his nose in everyone's business, he actually found out when Venion had a dragon egg, of all things, being wheeled through the territory.

And, naturally, he realized exactly what was meant to happen to that dragon.

So he concocted an elaborate plan and tried to steal the egg, only for it to hatch at the worst possible time and for both of them to get caught.

Kim Rok Soo and the little dragon are chained up and tortured, instead of just the little dragon.

Rok Soo antagonizes Venion to take the heat off of the dragon, and the dragon in turn does the same when it's been too much for Rok Soo.

Then, three years after his capture, the entrance caves in as Choi Jung Soo and Lee Soo Hyuk stand in the rubble, wild eyed and pissed.

They'd been transmigrated, and had only been in the world for seven months.

They'd bullied the God of Death into telling them where Rok Soo was.

Soo Hyuk had straight up punched the God of Death in the face the second the phrase "dungeon" left the god's mouth.

They'd been searching for him the entire time, bullied a counts son for political information, bullied Choi Han into being their interpreter, punched their way through so many guards that if it hadn't been for the count's son's money they definitely would have been on wanted posters, and they'd just found him chained and beaten.

Rok Soo thinks it's fantastic; he gets reunited and also gets to leave.

Soo Hyuk and Jung Soo think...well. Not a lot, really. They saw a tiny Rok Soo beaten to hell and their minds kind of went blank.

By the time they come back to themselves Venion is in pieces. Literally.

I think we as a fandom collectively forget that Cale has basically been bullshitting his way through nobility since chapter 1

Like this man has never had any proper noble etiquette lessons in his life. He's just faking it as he goes

Truly fucking around and finding out

The dream team

Cale: White star! You’ll never defeat us because we have the power of-

Choi han: Friendship!

Rosalyn: Family!

Raon: Love!

Alberu: AND GUNS!

White star: Wait, what was that last one!? *gets shot*

Still can’t believe that in a world of magic and fantasy they gave the magical dark elf prince a freaking glock. The ridiculousness always puts a smile on my face.

Just finished chapter 559 of 'Trash of the Count's Family' and

the found family is strong with this one. They love each other so much, I'm getting genuinely emotional

(also, I love all the Kim Rok Soo lore we've been getting these last few chapters)

Cale is the Saint of Death, and has been the entire time AU.

Growing up, Rok Soo's life was shit.

In his dreams, which he only barely recalled, there was always a warm place waiting for him. A parental figure that would ask him how his day went, give him advice, and try to ease the wound that just living life gave him routinely.

"You need to eat more! You're far too skinny for a growing child!"

"Shopkeepers are more likely to forgive you if you cry. It makes them uncomfortable."

"The next time he starts to drink, hide, okay? I'll deal with him when he comes to me, but I can't right now. So just hide."

Rok Soo could never remember what the man looked like.

But he did know that if he was ever put in charge of kids, that would be who he would try to base his behavior off of.

Practical, caring, and there.

What he wouldn't figure out until far later was that in his dreams, he was being parented by the God of Death.

By the time he transmigrated, his soul was saturated with Divine Power.

When he opened his eyes for the first time as Cale Henituse, he was also waking up to a world where he had the powers of a Saint.

Cage wakes up the same day, irritated from the start, because during her own dreams the God of Death would not shut the fuck up about how his son was finally going to be able to meet her.

It's not a whole scene, but I love the little encounters like this one, when they were at the Mercenary Guild's Directory

“Cale-nim.” Cale raised his head after hearing the cautious calling. Choi Han was looking at him. “What is it?” “I wish to help.” Choi Han smiled awkwardly at Cale who was looking at him and continued to speak. “Of course, I am a slow reader and my memory is not that good, but I thought I could still help.” Cale recalled some memories of his past. ‘Team leader-nim, shall I help?’ ‘Isn’t it time to go home?’ ‘Nah, it’s okay.’ ‘Like hell it’s okay. Isn’t your kid waiting for you at home? Go home.’ ‘But…’ ‘It’s fastest and most accurate for me to do it. You don’t need to do this part.’ He moved the conversation he had with one of his subordinates to a corner of his mind as he raised his hand. He then pointed to the second bookshelf. “I think it would be good to look through there.”

We get a sense of his life as Kim Rok Soo, and how he led his team.

But more importantly, we see how Cale/Kim Rok Soo has learned and grown over the years.

In this case, by accepting Choi Han's help. Even though with his ability he probably doesn't need it.

It's fun having a protagonist with so much experience, and the way the author hints at and teases us with his backstory is, tbh, a large part of why I kept reading initially.

I wanted to know who this guy was, who was comfortable with taking down empires and scamming corrupt priests and nobles.

It took almost half the story just to learn about his first ability, but we learn plenty more in the rest of the story.

Did we as a fandom collectively realize that both Alberu and Cale are going to live hella long. Like, Alberu is 25% dark elf and Cale has the vitality of the hearth. And I imagine Alberu does not want to be the Emperor for his whole life, so let's say ha passes on the mantel to someone else in his 60s. And now you have the ex-emperor and ex-commander who still look like they are in their 20s with nothing to do but bother each other in one of Cale's many properties. So at some point, out of boredom, a prank war is declared. And 'because they are both sneaky motherfucker's they get bored with pranking each other very quickly. So they, once again out of boredom, escalate the prank war. But this time they team up against everyone else just to see what they can do. 10 years later the prank war is nationwide, their companions saw through them pretty quickly so they had to escalate it again. 20 years later, the war has spread through the both continents. And I imagine that they found a way to do all of this without moving out of one of the mansions too much. They just sit and eat cookies while watching everything through the communication devices like it's reality TV.
