Six Sentence Sunday

I’ve been working on my long fic that I’ve been working on and off on for years. It’s an eighth-year fic, canon compliant with the books (except for the epilogue), friends to lovers, with a focus on their developing relationship, coming out, and their friends and families reactions to the relationship. This is a snippet from chapter four.
As the weeks passed, it became apparent that Harry was rapidly becoming obsessed with Draco Malfoy…again. It was almost like their sixth year all over again, only he had no excuse this time around. Draco was not a death eater, nor was he involved in an evil scheme of any sort, for that matter. He was not hiding anything, as far as Harry could tell, and since returning to Hogwarts, he’d been nothing but polite and good-natured. So why then was Harry staring at the back of Draco’s head when he sat behind him in lessons, obsessing over what classes he took, staring at him across the Great Hall, daydreaming about silvery grey eyes, staring at him in the common room, staring at him while they worked together in potions class, imagining what it would feel like to run his fingers through that platinum blond hair, staring at him…well let’s just say that there was a lot of staring involved unless Draco were to look in his direction, in which case he would avert his gaze at lightning speed.

“Oh, really Potter? Breaching your ethics? Your famously perfect morale?” Draco sneers. “Didn’t think you’d stoop so low.”
“Oh shut up!”
“I can already see the headline: Harry Potter, Golden Boy, Saviour of the Wizarding World, has reached a new low point in his life,” he taunts. Harry shoves halfheartedly at his shoulder.
“Leave me alone,” Harry mumbles, mouth full.
“I can’t believe you’re eating my brownie. And you’re not even subtle about it,” Draco complains. “Thief,” he hisses without bite. His sneer turns to a softer smile, almost fond, and the hardness in his eyes melts away.
“You love me, though.”
“That, I do,” Draco hums.
“And technically it’s not your brownie. I bought it.”
“For me,” Draco interjects.
“But,” Harry holds up a finger, cradling the brownie in the other hand, “I accidentally dropped it.” He looks both smug and sheepish. Who knew that was a thing?
“It was on the floor?” Draco asks incredulous.
Harry nods, lifting the baked good back to his lips, then stopping himself and holding it out to Draco gleefully.
“Oh, sorry, do you want a bite?”
“Ew, no!”
Harry cackles, then bites into the brownie with a hum.
“You’re really gross, sometimes, you know?”
“It’s a chocolate fudge brownie!” Harry exclaims, outraged.
“It was on the floor!”
“For less than five seconds. So it’s still good. That’s the rule!”
“I don’t get your weird muggle rules,” Draco pouts.
“You’re just mad because you’re missing out. This is delicious!” Harry chuckles.
“But I – I – um …” Draco doesn’t know what to say. He opens and closes his mouth a few times without any sound actually leaving his lips.
“Oh wow, Draco Malfoy, speechless for once. I already see the headline,” Harry teases, before pressing a kiss right onto Draco’s open lips. “I’ll buy you a new brownie, I promise.”
