 if you’re friends with someone who IS problematic (rather they may be an abuser or a racist, transphobe, etc.), and the person that was abused by this problematic person wants to unfriend you for their own safety – that should be ok. it’s not shady when someone wants to NOT BE NEAR SOMEBODY that is in contact with someone that has treated them like utter garbage. it isn’t an asshole move to want to NOT deal with that anymore.
i 100% agree that anyone can be friends with anyone else regardless of like or dislike, but i’m really tired of seeing people getting shaded because they unfriend someone for their own safety. there are seriously ugly people on this website, and in the rp community in-particular - and i’ve dropped A LOT of friends because they fuck with racists, transphobes and abusers. 
and hey, it’s not like things can’t mend in the future, because we all come together, and sometimes we part our own ways. that’s just how humans work. friendships come and go, and sometimes they stay forever. however, no one is obliged to be your friend if you’re fucking with their safety.
