Choices Creates #22!

It was a warm sunny afternoon, Dani had just finished a much needed mani pedi appointment.  She passed by the pet store she passed almost every day.  But today a sign caught her eye “San Francisco County animal shelter spring fling event” As Dani was about to turn and keep walking, a little tuxedo cat was starring at her.  He was small, His face was all black except for a little white handle bar mustache.

Dani tentatively walked inside, the volunteer took the kitten out of his cage and he cuddled up to her neck.  Dani melted inside.  She knew she needed to take him home.  She picked up some new food and toys, then headed home.

“Ben I’m sorry, once you see him, you’ll understand”

“Dani, I have no problem with you adopting a cat, i just wish you waited until after our trip to Disneyland next weekend.  You’ve trained so hard to run that half marathon, I don’t want you to cancel.”

“Don’t worry, once everyone meets him, they will be fighting over who gets to watch him, we’ll see you in a few”

Dani and Ben have been exclusive for a little over a year, and have been living together for the past 4 months.  everything has been smooth sailing with them.  

Dani arrived home with a little cat carrier and about 5 bags.

“Did you buy out the store?  Have you figured out a name yet?” Ben asked as he took them from her.

“I was thinking of a name, but you cant laugh OK?  What do you think of Finn?” Dani said softly

“Like from the new Star Wars?  I love it!”

“He seems like a Finn”

Once they set up Finns food, water, and some toys, Dani opens the box to let him out.

“Ok, I’ll admit hes damn adorable”

Ben takes Dani’s hand and leads her to the couch.  They sit hand in hand, watching as Finn makes himself at home.

This is my submission for choices creates #19. I found myself writing this to get myself out of a dark day. Pairing MC (Sydney) and Leo (ROE) "The Dark Day" It took a lot for Sydney to open up, after being hurt by Trent and others in the past. But she knew he was different, Leo was different. He took her on adventures she never knew she could have. She was a home body, she didn't like going out, crowds stressed her. Even being on the cruise gave her an anxiety attack every now and then, but when she was with Leo, all her anxiety and stress melted away, well mostly. She suffered from anxiety and depression for a long time, she learned to cope and kept to her self on the dark days. Today was one of those days. Sydney awoke having a panic attack. "What if all of this is for nothing? What if he leaves like the rest of them?" She tried to calm herself, telling herself to live in the moment, but she was focused on the future and the possibility of being hurt. She tried to open up to Leo, but Sydney knew how to hide her feelings all too well. The only person who could see past her wall was Alex. Alex had observed Sydney's behavior for years, he knew when something was wrong. She sat in bed and looked at her phone. Not a missed call or text message. They didn't have the best coverage, but that sinking feeling overwhelmed her non the less. "Where has he gone to? Why hasn't he reached out?" All these thoughts swirled in her head. She decided to stay in today, it was a day at sea, who would really miss her? Sydney opened a book and began to read. The day passed by, she had calmed herself with her favorite book. Until that irrational feeling swept over her once again. "Does he truly love me? Why did he choose me?" There was a knock on the door, she didn't budge from her bed. There was second more panicked knock that made her jump and run to the door. It was Alex. He was holding a bag as brushed past Sydney without saying a word. He took off his shoes, sat on the bed and unpacked the bag. It was all her favorite things. Bunch a Crunch candy, her childhood teddy bear, and a DVD of her favorite movie. "Alex, you don't have to do this, I was ok with the solitude" Sydney said. "Listen, I'm willing to sit through Tangled for you! Now come here and lets watch the movie together." Alex replied. Sydney walked over the bed and laid back down. Alex started the movie. They watched in silence as a wave of relief fell over her. The dark day was ending for now and she knew it would all be ok with her brother by her side. @pb-boeboe @hollyashton

Choices Creates #18 "Into The Night"

Summary: What happened with the MC the night she and Chris broke up.

She sat up in her bed, her eyes and nose were bright red, her cheeks soaked with tears. She knew she went too far with Zig and being lonely was no excuse. She knew Chris could never forgive her.

She’s the one who helped him audition for the play, even pushed him to run for student council president. She made him want to be better, but in the end she tore him apart.

She knew she had to get out, but where? They lived in the same suite, she couldn’t avoid him forever. She sprung from her bed, she started packing everything, she thought “I’ll go home for the weekend and gather my thoughts, give everyone some space”.

There was a light tapping on her door. “Come in” she said.

“Sydney? How are you holding up”? Abby whispered as she cautiously entered the room. “Wait why are you packing? Where are you going to go”?

“Look Abby, I’m so sorry, but I just can’t be here right now.” Sydney answered.

“Chris filled me in on everything, you can’t just pack up and leave without saying anything. Please stay, we can figure this out together”. Abby replied

“Kaitlyn has her band, you have Tyler, I screwed up everything with Chris and Zig, and honestly I just can’t be here right now, I need to escape, even if it’s just for a weekend. I called my mom and she’s picking me up.”

“I guess I can’t talk you out of this, can I?”

“I’m sorry Abby.” Sydneys voice cracked as more tears streamed down her face “I can’t be here, I can’t screw everything up even more.”

Abby hugged Sydney and left the room.

She sat back down on her bed looking around her room and sighed. A red shirt catches her eye, it was Chris’s Henley. She picked it up and brought it to her face, it smelled like him, the scent of his Cologne still lingered. She knew the best thing for him was to leave. He could work on his presentation without worrying about her.

Sydney picked up the phone “I know it’s late mom, I’m ready.”

She picked up her bags and and walked out into the night, but not before leaving the red Henley on the kitchen table.
