good morning campers! thank you all for your patience and understanding and forbearance, it is much appreciated. due to production delays (i.e. your captain not being able to get their arse moving) we are starting slightly later than originally suggested but hey who cares in the grand scheme of things. so! just a quick refreshing reminder that this is happening and i am still alive and all is right in the jungle. you will find the post with all of the information here: https://kyluxpop.tumblr.com/post/155894644501/kylux-pop-update the schedule of prompts, and week one's prompt post in full, will be going up in the next few days. remember: you do not have to complete prompt one in week one. you will have twelve weeks from the beginning to the end of the pop and you may tackle whatever you like in whatever order! so don't feel rushed, please, i love you and want you to be happy. sounds good? sounds good to me. i can't wait to see what pops up... :D

kylux pop update!

oh my gosh there are a lot of you beautiful people out here! hello and thank you SO MUCH for spreading the word. i seriously adore you all.

i promised an update “in a couple of days” and i swear i’m going to be better about timing once this actually starts. :D

the update is this: i’ve had a couple of asks to clarify what exactly will be eligible for the @kyluxpop, and how much you’re actually committing to if you choose to participate. i’ve also been considering the idea of prizes, because i really think it would be awesome to be able to give people a little something for participation. so i’ve got an amazing artist working on some art for me, and the plan is this.

1. at the beginning of the pop i will put up all the challenge topics so you can make sure your ideas don’t overlap unless you want them to.

2. every week i will post a detailed prompt, which will be reblogged a couple of times throughout the week at various times of day to ensure everyone sees it.

3. responding to that week’s prompt will earn you a digital badge, as follows:

mitaka: top of your class, lieutenant! at least 100 words but less than 1000. tarkin: old-fashioned and hardass. exactly one hundred words. i will check. vader: UNLIMITED MIDICHLORIANS. at least 1000 words. yoda: words in an interesting order you must put. write a poem, any form, any length. r2-d2: audio and video. take a photo of something, or assemble some pictures into a moodboard, or throw together a fanmix. palpatine: DRAW AN ART. because drawing is some next-level sorcery.

you may do as many or as few of these as you like. do all of them every week if you want. all pop participants will also get a kylux pop 2017 digital badge featuring our beloved space jerks.

i would desperately love to send physical stickers to every one of you - but i have crunched the numbers every way i can and i simply can’t afford it. this is already going to cost me a few hundred dollars. so at the end of the pop, whenever i decide that is (yes i’ll tell you in advance), i will go through the weekly roundups to get a list of everyone who contributed to each topic, and any work you earned a digital badge for will get you one entry into a random draw to receive a physical sticker. so one vader entry in week one, plus a yoda and an artoo in week three and a tarkin in weeks four, six and eight will get you in six different draws. i will mail these anywhere in the world but you will have to be okay with giving a rando from the internet your mailing address. if you win a draw and don’t want the stickers let me know and i will redo the draw.

1. who tf are you?

@acroamatica. julian. they/them. shaped like a friend. i have just met you and i love you.

2. i want to do this! how do i sign up?

you don’t have to! you can follow @kyluxpop if you like, but everything about this is optional. you just aren’t feeling this prompt? don’t do it! you really wanted to do it but now you have the flu? chill out, my friend! do what you want, how you want, don’t feel obliged to make any promises.

3. what’s the schedule?

working on that, expect it in a couple of days. starting no sooner than february. i will update this post with a link to the schedule when i have made it.

4. are there wordcounts?

the minimum wordcount will be set at 100wds. yes, one hundred words. no maximum.

5. are there deadlines?/i want to write this week’s prompt but i have no time until two weeks from now. can i wait?

no hard deadlines! i will do roundup posts every week of all the work posted over the course of the challenge, whether out of order or not. this will give you lots of time to do things at whatever pace suits you. there will be a soft deadline for the roundup posts, probably about a month after i post the last prompt, but if people are still doing a ton of work i will extend that. and you can keep writing to these prompts as long as you like.

6. i am doing the kbb! can i still do this?

yes of course! any or all of it.

7. i am under 18! can i still do this?

yes! all the prompts will be vague enough that there will be sfw ways to handle them, because not everyone wants to write nsfw even if they’re old enough to. when i do my roundup link-posts i will clearly mark anything that is nsfw and tag anything with content anyone might find objectionable. it is your responsibility to look only at what you are mature enough to look at. i trust you. 

i also trust all my 18+ creators to tag their nsfw. your prompt response can be as filthy or as kinky as you like but please tag responsibly. there are more than just minors out there who need tags.

8. no but i don’t think you understand HOW filthy i want to be. is [content] cool?

i have a couple of responsibilities here, so: - no child porn. please be aware of what is legal in your country. if you want to de-age a character or write sweet high school benarmie, that’s cool, but please keep it pg-13 unless it involves legal adults. - i’m not going to police anyone’s kinks but please, please tag for them the same way you would tag for ao3. i really don’t want anyone to be triggered or to feel uncomfortable because something wasn’t properly tagged. you want to write necrophilia with a side of a/b/o dubcon? okay, but tag it. - a preference but not a requirement: if your art is nsfw, it would be nice if you put it under a readmore with a teaser above the line. but you don’t have to as long as it’s tagged nsfw.

9. i like the pairing-up aspect of the big bang. can we do this?

absolutely! i am not requiring it or managing it because i know some people find teaming up very stressful, but if you want to, i suggest looking through the prompt post and seeing who else has liked it, and messaging people you think you might like to work with. everyone i have ever done this with in kylux fandom has been incredibly gracious, i’ve made some terrific friends, and i highly recommend it.

10. i just want to do this by myself and not have anyone see it. can i do this?

yes! i hope everyone will want to share, but if you don’t want to that’s totally fine. just don’t @ me or @kyluxpop in, or if you want to be doubly sure and you know i follow you you can tag it with #noroundup and i will respect that.

11. i have more than one idea for this prompt. can i fill it more than once?

go for it! do fifteen fills if you want, i’m not gonna stop you.

12. i had a great idea for this prompt but someone else already wrote it. what do?

13. i want to do this but my first language isn’t english. can i join in in my own language?

mais bien sûr! (but of course!) just make sure you tag in english so that i know what’s in it. (sauf pour les francophones, vous ne pouvez rien me cacher :D)

14. i want to write a poly/ot3 fic. is that okay?

yes, as long as kylo and hux are part of the group and as long as all other characters are tagged for so that i can make sure i tag for them too. and yes, specifically that does include rey, finn, or poe as well as any of our first order folx, matt or techie. you want to throw in krennic or tarkin or a spare hux from an au? go for it. just tag.

15. i want to create something using an au someone else started or based on someone else’s content. is that okay?

check with the original creator of the content. if they’re cool with it, i’m cool with it.

16. i am not a kyluxer but i really like these prompts! this would make a perfect [insert pairing here] fic. can i use them?

go for it! feel free to tag me in if you want me to see it. however, out of a wish to keep the waters unmuddied, if your work doesn’t include kylux as the main pairing or part of the main relationship i won’t include it in the weekly roundups.

the kylux pop 2017 - like a bang, only much much smaller

good $timeofday folks!

@acroamatica here, with the good news. i have gotten so much enthusiasm already that we will be going ahead with this event, such as it is. i really don’t think it’s grand enough or concentrated enough to be called an event. but i need a noun, so “event” will do.

the plan:

- consultation phase. starting now, i’m listening. if you have questions, concerns, comments, or ideas, sing out here or message me on @acroamatica and i will be very happy to chat. i am on australian eastern daylight time (GMT/UTC +11hrs) and i work full-time but i will do my level best to be responsive when i am awake.

however! i anticipate (i hope, i hope) a really low level of concern, because this is a low-stress event. there is a rules and faq post up here but the idea behind the kylux pop is that it removes all the stressors of a big bang, for everyone involved. no hard deadlines! no hard wordcounts! no obligations! just a bunch of people having fun with our beloved space jerks.

- prompt phase. each week for a currently undetermined number of weeks, starting on a currently undetermined date (most likely no sooner than february), i plan to post one prompt. this prompt will be a wide-ranging prompt that i anticipate could be dealt with in many ways. i will supply some more specific suggestions for people who like to have more specifics, including (if people would like this) a starter sentence. none of these prompts will be inherently nsfw. if your idea is nsfw that is okay, but if you’d rather not or can’t do nsfw i don’t want to exclude you. anyone can write or draw or create to these prompts, and what you create is up to you. you can pair up with people if you want to, or not. just tag @kyluxpop and/or #kyluxpop, or @acroamatica, when you post so that i can find you.

- wrap-up phase. every week i will do a round-up post of all of the work posted that’s been tagged so i can find it. if you don’t want to be in the round-up, don’t tag it or tag it #noroundup so that i know. it’s totally cool if you just want to do this on your own and for yourself. i will round up all the work that week, not just the work for that week’s prompt, so if you want to do them out of order or smash three of them all together that’s fine.

there will be an end date, probably about a month after i post the last prompt, after which time i will stop doing weekly roundups. but you can keep using the prompts if you want.

i am considering a tiny prize for anyone who does all of the prompts. maybe a couple of stickers or something. would people like that?
