hey tumblr. i’m packing up here for good, i think. not that i was really using this blog before this, since i was pretty much logging in every three months to fill up my queue and bounce. but i’m really, really not gonna be here any more now. it simply does not spark joy any more.

Singing is allowed there. There's just a general rule of 'please be quiet and respectful when in the Abbey' because it is a place of worship. Thus unscheduled singing would be considered disruptive.

"Where has all the genuine self-expression gone? Now what used to be authentic subculture is turned into a performance of Aesthetic!" so many posts exclaim, usually concluding that the problem is Capitalism.

I don't disagree entirely, but. The problem is that y'all are so deathly fucking afraid of things Cringe, Weird, and Uncool that anything unmarketable, subversive, or oddball enough to be "genuine subculture" is gross and unacceptable to you.
