"I have had my fill of plaudits from the big city

For the work I did in the hot, mad whirligig"

...begins PJ's new poem that imagines what Adam might be doing on the morning of his birthday. It's a meditation on renewal, and it ends with a beautiful surprise.

It looks like my esteemed colleagues from achtoonbaby, the Fake BaEs, have been rummaging in my drawers again. And once again, they have stolen my precious U2 Christmas tree ornaments for their own nefarious purposes. But is it really nefarious to wish Mother Achtoon (aka @kellyeddington) a happy birthday? Perhaps not!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KELLY!

Love, PJ, the Fake BaEs, Fake Adam, and Fergus the Intern. Also starring Fake Larry as de droomer.

Done at the end of an epic work day. Because such is my love for my bestie. :')

From the desk of Fake Bono:

Just in time for our final U2:UV Sphere show of 2023: an explosive new column where Fake Edge and myself discuss cosmetic dentistry and the suspiciously hot people in U2’s social media posts. And I unleash a furious #IFBSFB. Join us, won’t you?—Fake Bono

Because of a cool comment I got on a post last night, I went through my “idiosyncratic androgyny of Bono” tag just now. I guess I haven’t used it as often as I thought, but this is a fine example. Bono will probably never be listed amongst the famously androgynous like Bowie, Bolan, Prince, or some of the lesser makeup-wearing 80s guys, and maybe to the untrained eye he’s just another frenetic, sweaty front-man in tight pants. But I disagree strongly with this assessment. Bono is many things, but he’s not just some Band Guy.

Other tags I have used for pictures such as this one: #Volume, #Amplitude, #Parabolas and #BackDatAzzUp.

Here we see Bono in #Goddess mode. And it’s not just about the long hair. He has a big ol’ head and a big ol’ nose and yet—he also has this strange delicacy, and what light and shadow do with his eyes is just gorgeous.

Big nose, buzz-cut? Doesn’t matter. Without shades, he tends to look open, vulnerable, and a little sad, and it’s weird to me that people see him as arrogant or obnoxious. I guess I have to accept that the U2-illiterate will always be with us. The only song they know is “Vertigo” and they don’t understand it, so fine. FINE. (I stopped watching South Park after that episode, btw. I don’t even miss it. Screw you guys, I’m going home.)

Here we see #Mom&Dad out on the town. I think Edge is also a goddess in his own way—he just doesn’t sit like one.

In short, Bono fully deserved to win the 2016 Glamour Woman of the Year Award, and I love him. Look at his toes.

But also, he is a man, and that’s okay too. :)
