ABOUT ME

  • hiya! i’m alex! i make stuff and put it on the internet.
  • i use they/them pronouns! aggressively queer. aggressively proud of it.

MY WRITING

  • my debut novel DEAD GIRLS DON’T SAY SORRY is out now! it’s about toxic best friendships, grief, and survivor’s guilt and kirkus reviews called it unsettling (you can find it here!)
  • i write a lot of contemporary (mostly queer), fantasy (mostly low), and suspense (mostly psychological)
  • i enjoy characters who suffer. if we have this in common our books will get along and we can give them playdates

before you ship something stop and ask yourself... Is this otp material? Make sure your characters are:

  • Obstinate and inflexible in their actions
  • Terrible for each other in most circumstances
  • Poor communicators

how do you just get up and deal with the fact that there’s a last time for everything. there was a last time you sat on your dads shoulders and there was a last time your mom tucked you into bed. there’s going to be a last time you kiss your sister on the head and there’s going to be a last time you hug your best friend. there’s going to be a last time you feel exactly as you feel right now and there’s going to be a last time that person says i love you. i need to lay down

Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well, yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless.
