RIP Kitty Wells, America’s first female country music star. Sixty years ago this summer, Wells topped the charts with “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels,” in a rebuke to all those ol’ boys who blamed their wayward ways on wayward gals. She wasn’t having it.
