Darwin’s Frog (Rhinoderma darwinii), males with froglets, family Rhinodermatidae, found in the Valdivian Temperate Rain Forest of Chile and Argentina

ENDANGERED.

  • Famous for its child rearing technique. The male holds both the eggs and tadpoles in his vocal sac. The froglets emerge from the male's mouth after metamorphosing.
  • Endangered due to habitat destruction.

I read somewhere that rain frogs are mostly muscle, is this true? Extremely curious about their anatomy so I'm wondering if you have any insight as to why/how they are so round!

Black Rain Frog (Breviceps fuscus), family Brevicipitidae, endemic to South Africa

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, you are correct, Rain Frogs are actually not altogether that fat... they're just shaped like that. They actually do have quite a lot of muscle mass for their size.
Having a round, compact body seems to allow for better, more efficient, burrowing.
You see, that "fat", round body again and again in different groups of burrowing frogs, like many of the Microhylidae and the Spadefoots. This group of frogs does seem to be the ultimate in roundness though!
For a more technical explanation of how they're structured, check out Mark Scherz's recent post about the subject...
Desert Rain Frog (Breviceps macrops), family Brevicipitidae, South Africa
  • A few herpetologists are now including rain frogs (and their close relatives) in the family Hemisotidae, as the subfamily Brevicipitinae. I am not, though the 2 families are now considered to be very closely related.
Incorrect: rain frogs are shaped like that because that is the shape of friends
taylor swift fans are so scary it's like i'm in the truman show. watching taylor swift fans talk about how she soo gets neurospicy mental illness grippy sock vacation is exactly how truman felt when his wife started advertising coffee or something to nobody in particular
i'm in a heavy-handed indie game about consumerism and taylor swift fans are walking around saying "i love Food Restaurant! Food Restaurant so gets me!" meanwhile food restaurant looks like this:
Homelander Ear Ringing Compilation
A collection of every time Homelander has a bout of tinnitus, from seasons 2 and 3 in "The Boys".
He surprising doesn't have the ear ringing at all during season 1, or at least I didn't find it during my search. It didn't seem to start for him until after he killed Madelyn.
Well. Technically it didn’t start for him until a bunch of TNT exploded near his ear 😛
You are my OG fan and I truly appreciate the feedback and comments you've given me. You're also one of like.... five people whose opinions I respect in this godforsaken fandom 😭 (I respect everyone, but some of the takes I've seen, man.) You always seem to pick up what I'm laying down, whether it's meta or subtext in a fic. We have a lot of similar opinions on things, and it's nice to have an outsider agree with me on things--it makes me feel like there's actual canon basis for my interpretations.
