As a subscriber to the "Mythal was a mom to Solas" theory (not that she's his gave-birth-to-him mom), I think this is an insane case of Mommy Issues™️.

I think Flemythal has a long history of abusing and manipulating her kids, and Solas is counted among that number. She might have been nice once/sometimes, but we've seen she has no issue having kids for the purpose of taking over their bodies. So she obviously has no problem seeing her kids as useful tools, but ultimately disposable if it benefits her.
