We’ll, this is late. I’ve been so absorbed with robot competition that I didn’t get to submit in time to meet the deadline. Nonetheless, I figured the prompt was still fun and has me actively sketching. One of the rules for this submission was no AI generated work. I haven’t even tried AI yet, but how are you guys feeling about AI generated artwork? I just saw that Adobe Firefly is In beta. I can see how it might be helpful for comping up some ideas to share, BUT … it kind of bums me out that the hand skills that I’m put so much time and effort into learning, practicing and honing can be replaced with a couple of word prompts or copied and pasted image prompts. It economically devalues hand work. Why would any business pay for talent when they can type in a couple of words and then ‘share’ someone else’s art style to generate something ‘original’ in no time and at little to no cost. That’s not the way it’s supposed to work with AI, but you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think that’s not gonna happen. This is it. Week 2 of FRC competition. So many surprises watching week 1 competition. Congrats to everyone who made it onto the field. For @robotdolphins it’s go time. This week we’re at our home event, the Orange County Regional here in California. The team has been working hard (I wouldn’t say tirelessly because some have been sleeping on our field - you know who you are) to prepare for our back to back to back events for the next 3 weeks. Learning a new program is sooo frustrating, and at the same time so exciting. I’m new to procreate. Half the battle is trying to unlearn tools I expect to be available or similar to my adobe suite. At the same time, the alternative tool is really well thought out and easy. So it all comes down to exploration, practice and patience. So this week was a test to do everything on my tablet. When I first saw the prompt for this Disney Princess challenge,, I thought I’d do Mulan. Since Chinese New Years is just around the corner, it would have been a perfect match. But then I started thinking that one princess never really gets a proper attention.. KIDA - I’ve never seen her in a Disney Park, and rarely as a toy or other property. It’s the last week of 2022, and I thought that I’d get one last winter magic image off before I dive into the turmoil of the new year.
