when i say “there are instances where the writing for dave is straight up racist if he’s NOT black” im talking about this post on his canon blog, where he uses the n slur amongs a ton of other offensive humors. 

but uh in general hussies racism isn’t directed AT dave typically, it’s kind of scattered everywhere and hard to locate where exactly all of it is but it is frequently of an antiblack nature. im not the best person to ask because im not black so im sure a lot of it has gone over my head and what is and isnt racist is something to be debated amongst people whove actually experienced systematic racism (unlike myself; im of mixed rromani heritage and the most ive really dealt with is people trying to talk over me abt rromani issues)

theres a lot better more comprehensive analysis on this shit but you need to get it from real people of color tbh im not a good source for this.

nah its not a cultural appropriation thing; its a “people that go by these names have abused me and others in my system” thing and i just dont want to have to talk to people who go by those names frequently cuz as a protector it makes me think of all the shitty people

i mean its solid if youre uncomfortable with depictions of dave that arent black and jewish because listen, there are some things in the comic that make it uncomfortable at best and racist at worse if he isn’t black and jewish. 

but heres the thing my guy

dave striders narrative is about abuse, toxic masculinity, and sexual identity. and while those experiences are different when you’re a person of color, they aren’t exclusive to black and jewish experience. saying what you’re saying also implies that one can’t be kin w/ dave if they’re not autistic and trans, because one could say he’s coded as those as well to a point where it’d be uncomfortable if he wasnt.

but uuuh andrew hussie is a shitty, lazy, and undeniably, notoriously racist writer. if you hc dave a way do it because thats how you like him, or because as a “___” you don’t feel comfortable seeing him another way, but dont do it because hussie wrote him a way, because hussies a fuckin racist. and dont tell people that they can’t relate to a racially ambiguous character with a narrative that almost any abused or gay person can relate to.

anyway my boy is coping kin, he doesn’t fuckin ID as dave strider. he uses daves character and narrative as a means to cope w/ his own shit. snuffin out his outlets because youre salty that he doesnt want other people to tag his art as kin is uuuh. not cool.
