I'm not sure which post on the blog this is in reference to (sorry about that!) but Boss has a sense of taste that leans toward sweet, so he'd probably enjoy coffee with sugar/syrups added. Plain coffee is too bitter for him, but he'll probably never admit it though.

Hi everyone, Happy Halloween, and happy annual update! We have a few important things to share with everyone, and we apologize for our recent silence. Admittedly, while we have been working away at the game behind the scenes, we have lost several volunteers throughout 2023, as they no longer had the time nor the drive to commit to BHC. We wish them all the best, and while filling in the gaps has taken some time, we are in a more comfortable place now, and have adjusted our team accordingly. Our progress should be must faster in the coming year, but on that note, we have a couple important announcements. Firstly, the game will no longer be fully voiced. Our VAs, some of which are voicing multiple characters, have not had the time to record, and we do not want to pressure them into recording the hundreds of lines needed within a set time frame. There will still be voicework in each date, but not to the same scale. Secondly, the demo re-release is still on the table, but due to the reason above, we are unsure when this will be happening. We will announce it when it is close to completion, and we apologize for the delay. Thirdly, we have one more big seasonal event we hope to bring to you soon. While we planned to have it out to you today, our sole programmer has caught a nasty case of COVID, and we will be waiting to release until they are well enough to wrap up loose ends. In the meantime, here is some preview artwork by the talented @/insanelyadd. Please look forward to it in the coming weeks. In the meantime, maybe you can match each symbol to a different skeleton? There are 10 of them after all ;)

Finally, we are happy to announce that we plan to have all assets completed for the full game by the end of 2024. The game itself may take a bit longer than that, but we hope to have it close to done by then. Blog updates may continue to be thin from here as a result, and while we still have a ways to go, we are still determined to finish the project. Sometimes tumblr is a bit goofy. But there's no need for any height chart, all of the Sanses are 5 feet tall (152 cm) and all of the Papyri are 6'6" (198 cm)

We are currently planning on PC/mac with potential for mobile, but we won't be on any consoles. Sorry about that!

It's currently a demo that will eventually become a full game. We aren't dead, promise!

We technically made a trailer for the demo here, but we'll maybe make one closer to release. It's a bit outdated in terms of the credits admittedly. I wasn't even on the team yet!

Hello all, Given some recent events, we wanted to openly state this. No official art created for bhc (backgrounds, sprites, writing, voicework, etc) may be used in any form for the creation or distribution of AI/generative content. Our volunteers have worked hard for our project, and we do not want our game to be the reason they lose control of how their art is used. Our assets may still be used in original, non profit work (ex. Memes, tiktoks, etc) as long as proper credit is given; the message above is addressed specifically to use of assets for AI. Thank you.

The winter event is windows, with apple, and linux being sort of hidden in the meatball menu to the right of the download button, so it may be a compatibility issue. We're sorry if that is the case! You can find multiple playthroughs on YT, at least one of which has no commentary, so that is accessible if needed!

Honestly, I think that Red or Blue will be the most popular by virtue of them being the most popular characters currently. Based on content though, I think all of the writers have done an excellent job so far and I hope all of them get equal love and attention for their hard work.

Pronoun Poll Results

Hello all! As mentioned before, we had a poll to see which pronouns we would be including in the game by default. It is my pleasure to say that we found a way that may allow us to include a custom pronoun feature in the game, and we will most likely be able to implement it! That said though, it is a potential tutorial, and we will have to see if it works out with the coding in our game. We want to include this feature for our fans, and will do our best to implement it. Having said that though, the purpose of the poll was to see if there was demand for another default pronoun. In coding, there are grammatical changes that must be programmed in (ex. they are here vs he is here, they wash dishes vs she washes the dishes). Because of this, there may not be a guarantee that with custom pronouns all grammar will work out perfectly (we will see if we can find a way to implement the ability to choose singular/plural forms, but this will require more research on our part). For now though, we have seen a high demand for it/its specifically, and we will be including that once our next patch is released! On the topic of said patch, we have encountered a small bump in production, as several team members have had immense mental stress over the past couple months and have been unable to devote time to our project. We are a team of volunteers working for free, and as such, we do not want to press team members in stressful situations to put their time and energy into something they can't currently handle. We will announce when the demo remake once we know our team members are in safe places, and we hope that we can have something out for y'all soon. Hello, everyone! The Bonely Hearts Club devs has received a few asks regarding adding extra pronouns to the game, and we felt it best to ask our audience as a whole how they felt. So, we put together a quick form to fill out if you would like pronouns besides he/she/they to be added. The form will be open for 2 weeks, closing on . June 4th, 2023.
