You and Mark have been having troubles for a few months now. You have been dating for a year and half now. You fell in love with his infectious laugh and smile and his caring personality. Let’s not forget his talent of going from cute to sexy in seconds.
But the last couple months have been a roller coaster of emotions. He has been busy before, but he always made time for you. And you always made time for him though your busy work and schooling schedule. But the last couple months every time the other was free the other wasn’t. You were always busy interning, working and with classes. You felt as if your paths were going separate ways. You wanted a career that would consume a lot of time, and he wanted a girl that would be there to support him.
You and Mark finally had some free time. You guys decided to hang out at your house. You were making dinner with Mark when your boss called. You answered the call excusing yourself, but when you got back Mark was a little agitated. You guys were sat at the dinning room table, eating in complete silence. You can feel Mark’s anger from across the table as he shoveled food in his mouth.
Finally you got fed up. You slammed your silverware on the table, making Mark look up at you. “What is wrong now?” You ask him as you feel anger surging through you. You just wanted one night with him, one perfect night.
“You want to know what is wrong?” He asks you angrily and you nodded your with a glare. “That your ‘boss’ happened to call on the one night we have free together.” He tells you sounding agitated, but never raising his voice.
“I am sorry that my job requires most of my time. I am trying to build a career for myself, much like you have right now.” You state standing up and grabbing your plate and his in the process.
“I wasn’t done with that.” Mark states from the table, but you ignore him walking to the kitchen. You feel your blood boiling under your skin as you throw the dishes a bit to roughly in the sink. Luckily none of the dishes broke. You hear footsteps, but you pretend to be doing the dishes in the sink. “I know you are trying to build a career for yourself, but we never have time together. I was just hoping for one night.” You take a deep breath as you place the dish in the drying rack. You turn around to see Mark in the doorway.
“You don’t think I wished the same thing. It was one phone call though.” You reason with him and he just crosses his arms looking at you with a glare.
“I am sorry that I feel like I don’t come before your career.” Mark’s voice was raising an octave or two as you guys continued to bicker back and forth. You roll your eyes at him before turning around doing the dishes.
“I am feeling the same way, but you don’t seem to see that.” You state. Mark turns you around and you look at him with tears forming.
“What do you mean I don’t seem to see that? My job keeps me busy, I am sorry I am not here to observe you all the time.” He states through gritted teeth. You groan out of frustration.
“I get that, but I miss you Mark. I know that is selfish of me to say, but I do! I miss your surprise kisses throughout the day. I miss talking to you about my day while we lay beside each other in bed. I miss your reassuring words when everything just seems like too much.” Mark cuts you off as tears are streaming down your face.
“You don’t think I miss that either, Y/N?” He asks you taking a few steps towards you. He goes to grab your hand, but you rip your hand away. You see the tears forming in his eyes.
“You love your career and Got7, and I love your passion for your career. I am trying to find my passion like you have. And I love you-” Mark cuts you off as tears are forming.
“I love you too.” You smile before reaching out and putting your hands on either side of Mark’s face. He puts his hands over yours, as you stare into his eyes that are filled with love and sadness. You wipe away the few tears with your thumbs as tears of your own start streaming.
“I know you love me, and I love you. That is why what I am going to say isn’t easy.” You take a shaky breath while looking him in the eyes. “I never want to make you choose between your career and me. I hope you don’t want me to do that either.”
“I would never ask you to do that.” He states and you nod your head before letting go of his face. You take a few steps away from him.
“But this relationship isn’t going to work right now. We both know it.” You remove your hands from his face as you feel your heartbreaking into a million pieces. You take a few steps away from him, and brace yourself on the counter. He stands in the doorway looking at you with sad eyes. You just wanted to cuddle him and reassure him that everything is alright. But you knew this is for the best. “I am breaking up with you, okay? Maybe one day we can be together, but we aren’t in a position in our lives to be together right now. So I am letting you go.” You tell him as you feel your whole body weaken. You just want to curl into a ball on the floor, and cry for days.
“This is what heartbreak feels like?” He asks himself, but looking at you. You sigh as you feel tears fall from your eyes heavily.
“I think you should leave.” You whisper before turning around. You brace yourself on the counter as you let tears fall freely and silently.
“I will always love you Y/N.” Mark tells you before you hear his footsteps along with the jngle of his keys. Once you hear the door slam behind him, you fall to the ground. You let your once quiet sobs turn into loud ones. Pain was taking over your whole body as you lay there crying. You knew this was for the best, but you also knew that Mark would find someone who would be there for him all the time. You knew he would move on, and you would, but loving someone else will never feel right. Not like loving Mark felt.
