Quick reminder for everyone.

You do not owe anyone on this website an argument. You don't. Anyone who tells you that you do is a liar and is trying to lure you into a screaming match.

Alot of internet arguments turn into people just screaming at the void and not really listening or learning from eachother. You don't have to do that and you are allowed to block people who try.

You curate your online experience. If making that and safe and happy place means blocking people who just want to yell at you about how they are right and you are wrong, then do it.

I do it all the time and will continue to do it. You are allowed to keep people who you veiw as detrimental to your internet experience out.

There is nothing shameful about using the block button.

My initial ranking of the tracks on Taylor Swifts new album, The Tortured Poets Society.

After one listen through in order, this is where everything stands. I wouldn't say the album breaks my top three, but I would definitely put it at like five right now. I did enjoy the album, quite a bit. The reason it is not higher is because it doesn't feel balanced to me. It's felt all very much about one thing. I understand why, but with Taylor's past albums, there has been more of a diversity in content that I felt this album could have possibly benefited from.

All that being said, I am eager to re listen to it and get a better feel for its content. Lyrically, every song felt so beautifully done. There were definitely moments that took me off guard in the best possible way, as well as a few that I still feel unsure about. Like I said, while this album is barely in my top five, it's there. From what I can tell, I think this may be one of her best written albums, lyrically.

I think the more I listen to it, the more it will grow on me. I think next I'm going to put the album on shuffle and see if the same songs stand out and if any songs have suffered or been overwhelmed by what came before or after them. I also want to see if further listening with impove the ranking of the album as a whole or not. I'll probably wait until morning, just so that I am able to come back to it after some rest with a refreshed perspective.

All in all, I would rank TTPD 9.25✨️/10✨️ on the first listen.

Album rankings

1. 1989 (became my favorite with TV)

2. Midnights (instant Favorite from day 1)

3. Red (got me through first year living alone)

4. Fearless (first taylor experience @ 9 years old)

5. TTPD

6. Folklore (don't listen to it much but love it every time)

7. Evermore (blends with Folklore for me)

8. Speak Now (I needed this album at 16.)

9. Reputation (Can't wait for TV)

10. Lover (Great songs, didn't get enough time to shine)

11. Debut (I love debut, I just listen to it the least)

So... I'm sobbing. For me, The Anthology was so much better than the original album. Any complaints I had were swiftly remedied by this version. The diversity that I felt was lacking came in full force with the additional 15 songs.

I have so many thoughts and feelings right now, but the biggest one is awe. Taylor Swift is one of the most talented people I have ever had the privilege to witness.

My plan for tomorrow still stands. I only listened to each song once. I am going to get some much needed sleep and come back fresh in the morning to listen to it start to finish. I am so excited to get to know this album.

Jace in City of Bones is actually so funny if you think about it. imagine you develop a crush on a girl for the first time in your life and within the week your dad comes back from the dead to personally tell you she's your sister

I just watched a YouTube video about A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and there was something this guy said that really stood out to me.

He said that after seeing the first Hunger Games movie, he loved it so much that he asked his mother to buy him the books, and if he hadn't done that… he would never have picked up a book and read it… and how now, he loves reading...

It doesn't matter if people didn't like the Mortal Instrument movie… I loved it… i loved the storyline, i loved the characters, i love the Institute... and I would never have read the books if it hadn't been because I wanted to know how it continued after finding out about the cancellation of the sequel

And now I love to read… I can't imagine not reading and missing out on so many fantastic worlds, stories and characters that had made me laugh and cry… and dream...

So I read the books first. I had started the series the year before and devoured it. The movie came out right around my birthday that year, and that's what we did. Even having read the books, I loved the movie. As an adult, I still adore it. The cast is stacked. It's hilarious, and even with the changes, the characters feel familiar. I know who they are.

That's part of the reason I don't really like the TV show. Simon was great, but he is the only character that I feel was translated well from the source material. The characters are the heart of this story, and for me, the show warped them into versions I didn't recognize. (There are still funny and redeeming qualities to the show, it's characters and the cast, but of the two screen adaptations, I just don't like it.)

This isn't a series that inspired me to love reading (that would be the American girl doll books, thank you). This is the series that inspired me to love writing. Cassandra Clare, for all of her faults, built a beautiful world with compelling characters. Reading the shadowhunter books made me want to do that, too. When i got to meet her at a panel in 2016, I asked what the secret to her success was. She said, "Write what you love, no matter what anyone else thinks." In the 8 years since whenever I start something that will probably never see the light of day, I think "I will love it, even if nobody else does."

It's the one series from my youth that I come back to over and over again. I have never read hard covers with the original cover art, holding pride of place one my bookshelf, while my beat-up paperbacks take up the space in the cabinet under my tv. My original COB book among them, falling apart at the spine. I own all all of the audiobooks in the first series and am, even now, 12 years after picking up City of Bones for the first time, re listening to them again, just to experience their magic once more.

Not feminist as in "women should be included in the draft" but feminist as in "being drafted is a violation of bodily autonomy for any gender".

The draft should not exist. Drafting people into the military is a violation of human rights. You should not be able to force someone to risk their life. If you can't find enough people who care about a conflict to keep it going then it simply shouldn't keep going. You can't even force someone to donate a kidney using government power, why the fuck can you force them to donate their whole body and life to a cause they don't agree with or don't care about?

you all misunderstood percy’s reaction to nico saying he used to have a crush on percy soooo bad. “percy was offended he wasn’t nico’s type” this “percy is so oblivious” that HOW have we all forgotten that nico literally wanted that man DEAD in the first series. and allowed percy to walk around with kidnapppng amnesia for most of the second. WHY would percy think he was nico’s type AT ALL why ON EARTH would he NOT be oblivious to nico having a crush on him???? he is certain that nico wants him homeless on the street at LEAST

nico: i used to have a crush on you.

percy: right. and was this when you blamed me for your sister dying or when you pretended not to know me while i had amnesia

I’m reading my baby sister The Mark of Athena right now. And she has absolutely no idea what is in store for Percy and Annabeth at the end of this book. She’s used to the “happy endings” I’ve been feeding her over the past year and a half with Uncle Rick’s books. I will be sure to report her reaction when we have finished.

So… We just finished The Mark of Athena.

As soon as Percy let go of the ledge and he and Annabeth fell into Tartarus, my baby sister screamed “No!”

Big fat tears were (and still are) rolling down her cheeks.

So we finished chapter 51 where they let go, and she closes her copy of the book and rolls over, burying herself under her blankets and says, “No more… I’m done.”

Me: “What do you mean you’re done??? We still have one more chapter!”

Her: “It’s not worth it anymore!”

Needless to say, I coaxed her to finish the last chapter. And now, she has to wait twelve days (1 day for every month I had to wait) until she can read The House of Hades.

She also went to every awake person in our house and sobbed to them about what happened. Like a true fandom member does. Because it’s exactly what I did to those exact same family members. 😂

*smashes you over the head with a potion bottle but it was a healing potion and it heals you for the exact amount of damage i dealt you* oh… uh. hm. do you think you could just lay on the floor and pretend to be unconscious

uhhh i guess that’s reasonable. how long? maybe five to ten seconds?

longer. *aside, to my minion* how long does it take to set up the heinous device?

(in a stage whisper) three minutes if we're speedrunning it.

*back to the hero* just picking a number at random here. let’s say three minutes

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i went nonverbal, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

sure let's go with that
