obsessed with the scene where zuko is collapsed on the couch in the apartment in the lower ring of ba sing se, loudly complaining about how much he hates his job, while iroh (who worked the same backbreaking job for the same amount of hours) is stirring their meal in the kitchen because it’s just?? such?? a perfectly and incredibly normal teenage thing for zuko to be doing.  

for the first time in three years zuko doesn’t have to be in charge of a useless mission and a dozen men whose lives are in his hands and the weight of honor and crowns and war on his shoulders.  his only responsibilities right now are eating whatever his uncle cooks for dinner and washing the dishes afterwards.  

i love the ba sing se arc because zuko is just a kid, slacking off and slamming doors and getting annoyed at everyday mundane things like the price of cabbages.  and it’s everything that iroh has wanted for him: to have a chance to be a kid.  i think it’s pretty in keeping with that reoccuring a:tla theme of “World-Saving Omnipotent Magic Kids are Still Just Kids and Need A Chance to Get To Be Kids.”  aang gets to go to school.  katara gets to let go at a dance party.  sokka gets an arts and crafts lesson with piandao.  

and zuko gets to crash on the couch.
