Im not trusting anyone who thinks Maximus was boring.
Some people are going so far as to say they skipped through his scenes they found him so boring.
His whole arc was about the toxic masculine cycle of abuse in military type organizations and him being lured to continue that cycle only to turn around and go “no actually this cycle ends with me” and then finding a better way to live through trusting in Lucy and continuing to grow in the belief that it’s best to be better than the world around him.
If that’s boring to you we don’t have anything to talk about.

How can most of the fandom ship Lucy with the ghoul? No chemistry, they hate eachother, the ghoul is literally looking for his wife and daughter, and their only positive interactions were lucy not letting that crusty mf die. All the others were neutral or negative. Meanwhile my baby boy Max is here with the CUTEST freaking dynamic with Lucy and y’all just ignore him?! Nah. I’m done.

Now that I think about it, I remember watching a video essay about how rare a black man-white woman pair are in media. Like, yeah, we sometimes see some white man-black woman, but rarely in reverse. It's kinda irksome when one thinks deeply about it and how it reflects the wider attitude of some people when it comes to mixed couples. Very true anon. I remember seeing similar things about how black men are perceived differently/more "dangerous" (stupid) and then that bleeds into people's ideas of relationships.
I think it's a subconscious thing. No one thinks of their shipping as racist since it's mostly lighthearted but I do think there's no such thing as being entirely removed from the societies we grew up in. Black men and people are seen as less desirable because society literally views them as lesser then. It sucks but I think people's views are slowly but surely changing.
I also agree with you. I hope Maximus continues to have a great part in the show and isn't sidelined like poor Finn 🥹

im all for people shipping whatever they want but i have interacted more with maximus x lucy posts than anything else so why is tumblr suggesting cooper x lucy shit to me 😭.
im sorry but i can not see cooper and lucy as anything more than that trope with the grumpy older man and the sunshiny positive younger girl. idk if i worded that right but anyways, i've decided (just like i do with durgetash shippers) to not interact with people who ship those two together. i just personally can't see it happening and the idea of it is very meh for me. but like i said, ship who you want...i will just curate my own FYP so that i don't see that ship (lucy x cooper)
