I picked up a mini palette and some watercolor paper on deep sale today, and I had already purchased one of those neat Pentel brushes with the water reservoir handle a while ago and never used it…and here you are, a very out of practice but nonetheless kind of awesome @imperialnuisance. I picked up a set that didn’t include black so I very quickly had to put my Big Artist Pants on and learn a whole lot about pigment blending, but it was completely worth it.

Kinda wonky lines considering you don’t get much erasing to work with on watercolor paper before you start roughing it up too much, and also pencil and my fibromyalgia hands aren’t on great terms, but I’m pleased anyway, and working with paint pans and a pocket palette and a water brush was so tidy I literally did this at my desk while RPing.

Look at this monochrome longboy though, he is the best Garlean, even his natural coloration is crimson and steely. :D

Hey guys, kind of a semi-serious point to address here. You might be aware that the amazing Martin Freepaw (@thefreshpawofeorzea) has been my roommate for the last two years. We don’t often talk about the circumstances that made this arrangement necessary- it’s a largely personal issue, and it isn’t my place to speak to it, I don’t feel that it’s my story to tell. It’s enough to note that they’ve been my best friend for way longer than most people realize, and when I saw a chance to help them escape from a really bad situation, I had to take it, regardless of how difficult it would be. It hasn’t been an easy transition for either of us, and it’s been especially hard on them, but overall, I think that things have changed for the better and I’m glad to have been able to help with that.

About a week ago, they were involved in a car accident while driving to work, rear-ended by a driver who wasn’t paying attention. Martin suffered a concussion in the accident, and while we’re grateful the injury wasn’t as bad as it could have been, it’s been a very painful process to try and get things back to normalcy.

On top of this, we’ve been given the run-around by both insurance companies. We know that Martin wasn’t at fault, we don’t expect to have to bear the cost of repairs, but it’s been a long process getting either company to admit even that much, and regardless of their findings, my insurance company is still choosing to raise my rates. Factoring into this is the fact that we’ve been having to Uber to and from work- the costs are really starting to stretch us to the breaking point.

I’m not the type to ask for help from others, but if there was ever a time, this is it. If you enjoy the content that Martin and I create, please consider sending a couple of bucks our way through my Ko-Fi account. Every little bit helps take some of the pressure off and makes life a little less awful for Martin and myself.

Remember that false chargeback paypal dispute? Well they emailed me to kindly let me know they debited MORE money from me, then basically said ‘if you’re back in the negatives over this just add more funds to your paypal and FUCK RIGHT OFF’

I’m not gonna win this dispute, paypal is clearly not on my side in this and in order to avoid responsibility they claim it’s all up to the chargebacker… So I need to make up for the money they’re not gonna give back to me and still have enough left over to pay for things like my dentist appointment, pre-order stuff and some subs/premiums etc. OTL

 I’m really REALLY not happy about this but I have to cover it somehow. SO I’m gonna open a few slots for emergency commissions…

Since we’ve had a lovely rain, I thought I’d share something rain related that makes me smile.

That wonderful smell that comes with a new rain is called petrichor. It loosely means the blood of the gods from the earth.

During dry periods, some plants release oils that soak into the soil and rocks. These oils tell their seeds not to sprout yet. The plants are protecting their babies until the conditions are right to grow.

When the rain comes, these oils are released, along with earthy bacteria and ozone from lightning. These aromas are petrichor. You are smelling lightning, earth, and the chorus of new life!

If that’s not enough to make you smile, consider this. There is no obvious reason for humans to react so pleasantly to plant oils, bacteria, and lightning, but we do. Scientists believe this is because our ancestors were much more affected by the fickle whims of weather, and stood to starve during dry periods. That smell told them that life was returning, that the crops would grow, that everything would be okay.

The smell of rain stirs in us an ancestral, generic memory of safety, sustenance, and peace. A great primordial sigh of relief. No wonder it’s so relaxing. ^_^

PSA about the new Amazon FFXIV promotion

There are a sizable number of people not getting their codes after making a qualifying purchase.

It appears that most of the people having this problem are people who bought PSN Gift cards (and I think maybe PSN Plus memberships here and there), but people who purchase physical items could also have the problem.

I just got off of Amazon’s live chat with a customer service rep, and I was told there’s a technical issue preventing the codes from being sent and technicians are working on it. The codes should be sent within 24 hours.

Some people have been able to get codes given to them through live chat and phone support, but only do that if you REALLY can’t wait until tomorrow (or if tomorrow comes and you still don’t have it) It’s probably better not to tie up CS reps with something the technicians should have resolved.

PLEASE NOTE that if you pre-ordered a qualifying item, you will not be receiving your code until your item ships/is available for download. This is not an issue, but rather the solution to the problem we saw last time, where people pre-ordered items, got their codes immediately, and then canceled their order.

It’s been a month now, I think? I’m currently without a FC on Balmung and would really like to join one. Now of course, I’d like an RP one.  But my major issue is, that I am unsure if I would fit into one of them? Currently I don’t have an idea of what kind of direction I want to take my character in as well. What I’m not interested in: - Mercenaries - Criminal activities. (This severely contradicts with my character.)

PvE is not a must, I have my home server to go to for that. But once in a while is fun. Anything else is a go though. Though Social activities  are highly valued.  Any place that I can go to?
