modern english is a fucked up monster of a language because i have never even had a full conversation with a native speaker yet 50% of all art i consume is in english. i have no respect for whatever bullshit politics its native speakers have and yet it's (one of) the broadest ways of communication i have
this person is chronically online but not in the way i want

thoughts on… whatever the fuck is going on with frank rn
With Frank, Dunes, or both? I think both boil down to '40 something dudes being out of touch'.
On the Dunes front: I think this one was probably Anthony's passion project and I feel bad that he got scammed by an AI 'artist'. Genuinely believe that this probably started as an 'oh this is cool' thing.
Extremely disappointed they didn't just take the L and call the video a wash after having it repeatedly explained to them why the people who like the band were so put off by the notion, but it is what it is. I have a feeling they're going to be eating their words when AI comes for the music industry, but in the mean time: get those boys a PR person.
Frank's earlier comment: I am absolutely willing to believe he didn't rub two brain cells together saying that. I actually had to have this exact conversation with a coworker not long ago - she was genuinely surprised it had antisemetic connotations. This is an adult woman with multiple degrees and a corporate job. It happens. It sucked to see it, but...I think I'm of the age and in a location in which I deal with a lot of people who simply Are Not Online in the way that we (the broader tumblr We, lets say) are. I have these conversations (whether it's the antisemitism thing, or modern queer jargon, or certain outdated terms regarding disability, or insert topic here etc etc) way more often than you'd think. Usually it's not malicious, and usually it just takes a simple correction or explanation.
I don't want to downplay anybody's reaction, because it did definitely make me wince, but I live in a world in which people fuck up...all the time? It sucks and it can really suck when it surprises you, but it happens.
I did not get into this Mess thinking that Frank Anthony Iero Jr is some effortlessly cool altruistic anarcho punk deeply embedded in the DIY scene. He's a dorky father of three from New Jersey and, more importantly, he is literally Just Some Guy. Thats kinda part of the appeal.
Not the first time he's fucked up, certainly won't be the last.
Millions of Years of Immutable Evolutionary Law: “Cats shall have litters of many offspring at one time. Some will be weak or stricken with disease--they will perish to allow the stronger siblings to escape, and to satiate other predators in order to reduce competition and encourage the existence of more capable adults.”
Human Beings:
You ever just wake up from an incredibly graphic and realistic nightmare that was a pure psychological horror based on your own personal phobias and trauma and just roll over like “aw shit I got too hot last night I guess.” And then make toast like you didn’t just experience the nine circles of hell before 9 am
Nothing to see here, just Patrick Stump saying more things that make me want to cry...

I love men. I'm half man myself on my dad's side
I love women. I’m half woman myself on my mothers side.
i can paint a little gerard. as a treat.
no offense to ryan reynolds in particular but as the first well known celebrity to make the move off of twitter i believe as a collective it is imperative that we act swiftly. we need to make an example out of him
me behaving in public is just. is this what normal people do is this what normal people do is this what normal people do. over n over
completely untested theory but
i think social media not only has eroded ideas of privacy (”if you have nothing to hide why do you care?”), but in a much more harmful way it promotes the notion that there should be no difference between public thoughts and private behaviour. But this is totally bogus because people behave differently according to different situations, and this isn’t being “fake”, it’s just what navigating social situations in a proficient manner is like.
The way I behave with my friends and my family, the way I behave in private, is not for public consumption. Nor should it be. Publicness is a matter of choice, it shouldn’t be mandatory. People are not entitled to anyone’s private thoughts on anything. People have a right to decide what they wish to show in public and what they wish to hide.
