while i understand where people are coming from i think its funny when people romanticize the old internet

"the internet now is so damaging to kids"

remember when it was like extremely easy to accidentally stumble upon beheading videos

i love the tags on this post because it's a mix of people acting like im exaggerating and people being like "i watched 1 guy 1 jar at a slumber party when i was 10 years old"

I tried to find something about this to reblog and share, but I didn't see anything so I wanted to put this out there. More than 1000 authors have all signed a petition to stand in solidarity with trans rights and essentially condemning J.K. Rowling's TERF views.

This includes Stephen King (which coincides with his Twitter drama with Rowling from before), Margaret Atwood, Neil Gaiman, and more big names in the industry.

Look at those beautiful trans supportive authors!

The Google doc with the letter and a list of the authors who signed it can be found here:

Here is a link to an LA Times article:

And here is a link to the Guardian article:

I thought, given all the sincere disappointment I've heard from people who loved her books, at least this gives you an alternative source.

Trans rights are human rights!

I have finally met someone who is Extremely Vegan and it's a weirder experience then I expected it to be.

I've met a lot of vegans in my day. I've never before met one that will just unprompted go off on a side tangent about how if there is any meat served at this event they will throw up all over the table.

This person also seems to associate liking animals with being vegan. I like animals. And a lot of the animals I like are carnivores.

Also I'm having to confront questions now like "Well how would you feel if a cow ate you?" and like… well I wouldn't be happy but I wouldn't hold it morally against the cow because I'm not a cow. I wouldn't expect them to care about me.

To be clear, this person is not a bad person and I am aware that most vegans aren't like them. It is just super surprising to be around someone who so openly assumes that everyone around them is on the same page that they are when we clearly aren't.

Oh yeah cows are herbivores. But if they decide to fight all of their own instincts and eat me that's their business. I'm gonna try to avoid getting eaten, obviously, but if I lose fair and square I won't hold a grudge against the cow. Because as stated previously, I'm not a cow. If a cow ate another cow I'd have a problem with that. Something has gone horribly wrong there.

To talk about an omnivore for a second since that's more likely and also humans are omnivores, I wouldn't hold it morally against a pig for eating me. I mean fair play. I might be a bit upset about being eaten but that's not saying anything against the pig.

Sometimes some animals eat other animals.

Oh yeah. Also I wouldn’t hold it against a chicken for eating me because I fully believe that they’re both idiots and cannibals

Another vegan I know keeps a sticker on their laptop that says "There is no ethical consumption under capitalism" and I recently had a whole conversation with them about why I'm not vegan and their response was basically "Yeah that makes sense."

The majority of the vegans I know only bring it up if they like, need recommendations for protein shakes or something.

I love Josh’s anti-classism so much. I grew up in a single parent household that didn’t have time/the ability to cook. I taught myself as an adult and ended up loving it. I cook with this stuff a lot. Shit, the RealLemon juice ends up in a lot of my cocktails. Sure, I like fancy ingredients when I can afford them and I have things I get picky about using - but I have bad hands, mincing garlic is painful as fuck. There’s a lot to be said for knowing how to work with what you have. Don’t shame people for trying, don’t shame people for feeding their families things that they enjoy.
