My entire thoughts post the Casualty Chrimbo 2 parter can be summarised with this gif.
The episode had potential, was well directed (minus the overuse of flashbacks), but man, am I feeling, well, just ‘meh’ with it.
Because it was set in 2020, they lost so much of the suspense with Iain and Charlie - after all, we already knew they’d be OK. Which just made these two storylines feel pointless.
The Rosie stuff was pretty good, hell, I think I’d have preferred more of that, rather than them throwing in the Iain and Charlie stuff.
Tess coming back definitely comes across as a ‘grab for views’ rather than actually anything that could have contributed to the episode/stories.
I almost feel bad for complaining about it, because it was OK - but honestly, even with the Christmas hiatus, it’ll always be too soon to see another flashback.
