"The 'world', after all, was still a place of bottomless horror. It was by no means a place of childlike simplicity where everything could be settled by a single then-and-there decision" - the character 'Yozo' in Osamu Dazai's 'No longer human'
it was supposed to go quick and efficient.
you guys weren't supposed to spend any second longer at that place then absolutely necessary.
not that you, for your part, wanted to.
you didn't like the loud techno music blasting out of several boxes throughout the entire first floor, drowning the entire house in the bass and rhythm.
you didn't like the teenagers who were making out all around the place, who were dancing so extremely close to each other and you sometimes even got pushed out of the way by a pair of them who excused themselves upstairs giggling and clearly intoxicated.
you didn't like the thick air, the heat.
but you didn't have much of a choice.
initially you had planned to glue yourself to your partner, you had expected him to do so by himself since he always did whenever the two of you were together on a mission or on patrol.
so you were kind of left in a state of shock and confusion when you turned around to see Kirishima gone.
you spun around yourself trying to make his red hair out in the crowd, but to no avail.
'maybe it's better like this anyway' you thought, this way you guys might be able to gather more information quickly from different sources.
only once in a while you got to get a glimpse of your partner, he was usually being almost circled by some guys that he seemed to be familiar with.
at least his open and rather relaxed body language told you that, so did the smile on his face.
the drink someone pushed in your hand at the start of the evening was still full, it wasn't like you were having conversations with anyone where it would be noticed that you didn't take a single sip from your drink.
but you realized that this was the exact opposite to Kirishima ; he knew these guys he was talking to and was constantly in their field of sight.
he seemed to take this job a bit too serious as, three hours into the job, he was almost blackout drunk.
one of his 'friends' came to you while you were having an exchange with a drunk girl about the person you were here to get information of in the first place.
with a silent sigh you had excused yourself from the girl and followed the man.
as soon as his eyes landed on you, Kirishima almost ran towards you and took you in the tightest hug you ever experienced.
"Oh my, how many drinks dod he have?" you asked the group of guys after you were able to poke your head out from between Kiri's arms and chest but they only laughed.
you had a hard time to physically restrain yourself from rolling your eyes.
they were Kirishimas friends after all and maybe still sources of the information you needed.
"Kiri let go." you said, trying to empathize your words by pushing your arms against his chest to get some distance.
even without his quirk active, Kirishimas chest was rock hard.
"I was looking for you the entireee time!" he started to whine, pulled you even closer.
"I understand but you have to let me go please." you reasoned, patting his back to reassure him that it was fine to let you go.
"but you will get lost again! Someone else might pull me away from you again!" the red head continued, he pulled his head back and you were presented with a sad frown from him.
"that won't happen, I promise.." but he didn't seem to buy it, he still held you tightly.
"...we will hold hands to not get lost okay?" you offered and Kirishima seemed absolutely fine with it as he let go of you and took your hand in his.
wordlessly you pulled him out of the house and out on the front porch so he could take a fresh breath.
maybe his head would clear out a bit so you both could go back to why you came here in the first place.
but today the world seemed to not be on your side, as soon as you let go of Kirishima to make him sit down on one of the stools standing outside, he almost sprinted over to the railing and threw up all over the bushes in front of them.
"oh-" you were only able to gasp before you ran to his side, patted his back to keep him calm.
"I'm sorry.." he mumbled and you weren't sure if the tears in his eyes were from guilt or a side effect from his body pushing out the contents of his stomach.
Either way, you felt sorry.
You leaned down further to him so you didn't have to scream across the music to reach his ears.
You tried your hardest not to look at what Kiri had just emptied out to not end up like him.
"it's okay..we will find a quiet place for you in the house where you can rest up a bit and I will keep on with the mission so we can both go home, okay?" you said, rubbing your partners back up and down.
it didn't take long for you to find an empty room, it was in fact even a bedroom.
you had helped Kiri up the stairs and let him plump down on the queen sized bed with a sigh.
"I will go now." you announced but as you got up to leave, Kirishimas hand gripped yours.
"just stay for a bit longer.." he asked, his face still pressed in the matress and covers.
you really wanted to leave and keep on with the mission, you finally wanted to gather all the information you needed of the villain that you and your pro hero partner red riot where chasing for months now, but Kiri wasn't only your pro hero partner but your friend as well.
and you just couldn't deny the request of a friend who was in such a vulnerable state.
"alright.." you quietly agreed, took your seat next to the laying red head back.
he didn't let go of your hand and for a while the two of you were silent, only the music from downstairs was barely audibly.
"(y/n)?" Kiri suddenly said after a few minutes of said silence, his voice sounded somewhat desperate and scared.
"yeah?" - "you know..." he started but stopped.
you waited patiently for him to continue but he first changed position.
now he was laying on his side with his front facing you rather thab on his stomach like before.
his grip on your hand grew harder but only ever so slightly, you almost didn't notice it and even when you did you thought that you were imagining it.
"you know.." he started over but now the pause between his sentences was less, his eyes avoided yours but you could still make out the rsther tortured expression in them.
"..i think alcohol really makes you braver.." he mumbled under his breath, so quick that you barely catched it but the phrase wasn't meant for you anyways.
"..I've liked you for such a long time now.." he said, these words were directed to you unlike the ones before.
his confession made you freeze, made you pale while also painting your cheeks in a bright red and your heart stopped beating for a second.
but Kirishima wasn't done yet, his grip grew another slight bit tighter.
"..but it seems that no matter what I do..you don't respond, it's making me so frustrated.." you were frozen in place even when you noticed him scooting slightly closer to you.
"..can you believe, I even stalk you! no really, i like you so much that I can't be a day without seeing you!" he added the second part after seeing your shocked expression.
Eijiro Kirishima was stalking you?
and you didn't even notice?
his hand wrapped around your wrist now, caging it in in his hand.
"..I thought that you were seeing someone else because you, despite my best efforts, stayed so oblivious to the fact that i liked you. I'm glad you aren't with anyone right now though, I would've killed whoever would want to tear us apart..I still would.." he said, his eyes finally meeting yours while his grip stayed unchanged.
your face was still drowned in shock.
how could he say all these words so easily?
you swallowed hard, swallowed down the lump in your throat that made you feel like crying.
''..actually you know what? I should pay those jerks downstairs a visit right now..'' he suddenly said, a grin appearing on his face.
but it looked more sinister than sincere.
''wait what do you plan on doing?!'' you asked frantically, panicking.
''you've had a long day love..why don't you just wait here for me until i get back mmh?'' he asked and before you could even react and get in a defensive position to keep yourself safe, Kirishima had taken your wrists in his hand an pinned you down on the bed.
with his free hand he unbuckled his belt and you started to fear for the worst but he wrapped the black leather around your wrists and the metal of the bed frame.
''Kirishima please..!'' you begged.
not only did you fear for your own safety but also for the safety of all the drunk people who were still partying downstairs.
but the pro hero did not listen to your words and instead, almost wobbly, walked towards the door.
''Kirishima!'' you yelled his name and for a moment he stopped in his movement, just like you hoped.
maybe if you got a bit more time to talk to him you could convince him of not going downstairs, maybe you could make him free you and maybe you could even convince him that you loved him so he would leave with you, even if it was a lie.
your scream drowned out in the music, there was no chance someone outside of the bedroom door had heard you, it was just you and him.
the lives of everyone in this house lasted on your shoulders, you just had to make it.
you had to convince him to let this entire situation go.
he turned around after a moment, walked back towards you.
your body wanted to recoil at that sight but you forced it to stay still, shoved every survival reflex aside.
''l-listen, you know how bad i can be at communicating my feelings..'' that was rather a lie, you were quiet straight forward with your opinions and feelings.
''so you gotta listen to me now: i like you too. okay? i like you kirishima!'' as you were still talking the red head had made his way to the dresser in the bedroom.
silently he had taken a fresh shirt out of the strangers dresser and now continued his way to you.
your voice became more desperate and panicked with each step he took towards you.
''no Kiri please, you have to believe me! let's talk about it, somewhere else, somewhere quiet! please just-'' you wanted to keep talking but Kirishima stuffed part of the shirt into your mouth and down your throat.
you struggled against the fabric, tried to scream so he would hear your word but the effort you put up only made you gag.
effortlessly he ripped the base of the shirt apart and wrapped it around between the corners of your mouth and went around your head.
when he was satisfied with his work he knotted the fabric tightly to keep it from falling down.
now there wasn't even the chance of pushing the cloth out your mouth.
more tears welled up in your eyes and a few of them finally fell.
you stared at kirishima, looked for eye contact with him s he would see your tear stained face and feel sorry, so sorry that he would let you go.
but when your gazes finally crossed he just looked at you with an almost admiring look in his eyes.
by now he only looked insane.
you shook your head no, shook some of the tears out of your eyes.
you were certain that your face displayed what you were thinking : 'please, don't do it'.
but Kirishima only smiled.
''they just have to pay for keeping me away from you..'' he whispered, neared your cold-sweat stained forehead with hislips, kissing it gently.
he only backed off a tiny bit before saying ''after tonight you will be all mine.''
and with those last words he turned to leave once more, this time for real.
you struggled against the belt that was wrapped around your wrists and bed frame but to no avail, it did not change anything.
in moments like these you absolutely hated your quirk, a healing quirk.
only your combat skills made you able to go on patrol, to actually get into action.
but even your combat skills did nothing for you right now so you could only cry and continue to struggle when you hear terrified screams and cries outside the bedroom door just a few minutes after Kirishima left.
your tears were thick, your throat closed, your body, heart and mind aching.
the night was young and the air was thick like the fog outside, like the crimson blood you could see starting to enter the room from beneath the gap of the door.
