Dinner For Two

Wes was wrapped around Wilson in a firm hug, even as the man sounded his confusion. Though the nervous tone to his voice did make him lesson his hold, and he was easily pulled just far enough that he could lift his eyes to Wilson’s face. He showed optimistic friendliness.... surely Wilson did forget him, did he? Wes knew that most of his own memories were... cloudy... But he could never erase Wilson... not after what they’d gone through... Though the last thing Wes remembered about him caused his smile to falter.

Until Wilson pulled him back into a hug. A rush of happiness at being remembered scared away the hazy memory of a bloodied razor... His face was beaming, smile wide, as Wilson said his name. He really did remember! It made Wes’s chest flutter, a happy warmth spreading across his cheeks. But then Wilson was pulling apart again, and his smile faltered as he began to touch his face, sounding a little less enthusiastic...

When the man pulled him back into the embrace, it was a much different feeling... Wes could feel his stomach flip... How much did Wilson remember? What did he... think... Shouldn’t he hate Wes? This hug must be proof that Wilson really didn’t remember... He wanted to tell the man... But was interrupted by the goat, who was now standing directly next to them.

“It would be best if you both stopped wasting time! I’m sure you’re happy to see each other, but you possibly won’t see each other ever again if you don’t start cooking!” She was waving and arm in the air, pointing at the sky in an almost frantic way. Her words were rushed... but then her eyes softened into something more like a plead “Please... It’s not just for your benefit, I’m asking you to help me... “

Wes, still with his arms wrapped around Wilson and his body pressed against Wilson’s front, turned his head just slightly, so it was no longer in Wilson’s shirt, and instead looking up at the now sad goat lady... He immediately felt sympathy for her, even though he had no idea what was wrong... He opened his mouth, reaching a hand out towards her... but no sound came out... and he could only let a sigh blow through his nose as his mouth closed again, disappointment clear across his face. He was still without a voice, it seemed... His eyes turned to Wilson, looking for help...

Dinner For Two

Wes had been mid head turn when suddenly a voice spoke... A gentle “bah” sort of noise, followed by,

“Who are you?”

Wes snaps his head back to the front. The goat talks... She’s closer to him now, staring down at him with those big... strange eyes... Despite the unnerving stare, she’s actually quite beautiful. Wes starts to stand, hoping to quickly motion something that makes her aware of his inability to speak, but she waves one of her... hoofed hands, stopping him in his tracks.

“There’s no time for pleasantries! You’ve got to get cooking, or.... oh, I do wish there was more of you... It’s a difficult task alone.”

She seems a bit... distraught. She’s talking so fast, and waving her arms around, motioning almost like she’s afraid. Wes can’t make sense of what her words are supposed to mean, but he’s ready to reach out and try to comfort her. His hands are half way between them when another voice sounds.

THIS voice... He KNOWS this voice. It sends an immediate spark up his back, his shoulders tensing as he sucks in a breath. Could it be... He whips his head around, big eyes catching sight of the man who spoke...

“Oh! Good, there’s at least two of you. It will be hard, but not as impossible as doing it alone. But enough of that, you need to act fast, or you’ll anger the beast. I’ll help how I can, take the-” right as she started to dig in her pocket, her words were interrupted by Wes suddenly JUMPING from her side, practically leaping towards the man. She was startled by the suddenness of it, and raised her eyes in time to see Wes SLAMMING into him in what could be considered a violent hug.

WILSON! Oh, it was Wilson! Wes knew that voice anywhere... That sweet, comforting voice of his dearest friend... Wes was overcome with relief, a big smile plastered across his face and he squeezed Wilson tight in a big hug. He was almost hanging off the man, rubbing his faces against Wilson’s own in delight. Even having no idea where he was, Wes knew that everything would be ok as long as Wilson was there...

“Oh... Do you two know each other?” The goat stood, staring for a minute... before she seemed to catch herself. “I said there’s no time for pleasantries! You must start cooking now, or you’ll never make it out alive!”

Dinner For Two

When had his memory gotten so bad? Forgetting where he’d just been and, how he’d gotten here, and.. where even was here, now? Thick liquid rushing around, and the unsettling jostling of being thrown through who knows what kind of a... portal?

Wes awoke with a gasp of air, eyes flying open as his hands reached to try and claw his way out of the black slime surounding him. He’d been fighting against it rather hard before, but now it seemed to release him as he scrambled onto the cold, cobblestone ground surounding the strange pool he’d emerged from. Deep breaths heaved his chest up and down as he remained in a knelt position, supporting himself on hands and knees. It was a much less peaceful awakening that the ones he’d experienced before, where he was simply laying in the grass...

And... now that his vision was settling... his hands looked.. different. His white gloves were replaced with grey, smudged and dusty ones... And his sleeves where different too. Rather than his usual striped sweater, he seemed to be wearing some sort of white shirt and.. vest? His hands quickly flew to his neck, in a panic over the idea of his collar no longer... oh, he had a... bandana? This was the first time he’d woken up wearing different clothes...

Maybe things were different now... Raising his head, Wes scanned the area to see if it was familiar... He was only able to spot a couple of ominous looking gargoyles before his eyes landed on..... a.. goat... lady? She seemed to notice him, but all she must be seeing was a terrified looking boy sprawled out on the floor...... What else could be here? Wes quickly, nervously, whipped his head around, trying to see what else could be around him...

Surely he wasn’t alone... was he?
