this is going viral on the tweeter currently so. for you also. miku is not ai!!

sorry for potentially derailing op, but there's a HUGE mistake here

there IS such thing as entirely consensual AI assisted voicebanks, and that's through the program Synthesizer V

SynthV voicebanks use consensually made voice samples from voice providers— THEN trained on samples of the voice provider singing iirc, everyone in the situation fully agrees to the voicebank being made the way it is ( an example includes the newest Kasane Teto voicebank !! )

some usages of AI in vocal synths *can* be consenually made !! There IS outliers to bad AI practices !!!! also vocaloid 6 has consensual AI assisted voicebanks as well ^_^ ( gumi, furio, po uta etc. )

Just learned that in the UK minimum wage for teenagers is lower than for adults? What kind of nonsense are y’all putting up with over there this should cause you to start screaming

It’s also lower for 18-20 year olds??? Actual whole ass legal adults? The entire full ass of adult and they don’t get full minimum wage?

How are y’all not currently eating your couch cushions over this

No it’s not like this everywhere and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that laws like this can be used to hire hoards of severely underpaid teens and young adults that then get dumped the second they turn 20, making less opportunities for older blue collar laborers and not giving young workers what their labor is worth like I just learned about this and even I can put that together this is bad for everyone except for those guys who own like three dozen McDonald’s franchises

not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…

‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.

‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.

even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.

I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.

fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.

idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.

Alright everyone its 2024 so you know what that means. It's time to Pokémon Go to the polls. We're gonna Digimon Survive this election cycle. Yu-Gi-Oh my God it has never been more important to cast those ballots. It's time to get active before our civil liberties are Baku-gone. We need to be the Cardfight Vanguard of Democracy, and Yo-Kai Watch out for misinformation spread by Medabots on social media. So be a Dinosaur King, stay Megaman Battle Networked, and make your vote Count of Monte Cristo

“By the usual measures, Biden should be cruising to reëlection. Violent crime has dropped to nearly a fifty-year low, unemployment is below four per cent, and in January the S. & P. 500 and the Dow hit record highs. More Americans than ever have health insurance, and the country is producing more energy than at any previous moment in its history. His opponent, who is facing ninety-one criminal counts, has suggested that if he is elected he will fire as many as fifty thousand civil servants and replace them with loyalists, deputize the National Guard as a mass-deportation force, and root out what he calls “the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country.””

There really are not words strong enough to describe the absolute lack of any logical foundation, or consideration for any person or any issue inherent in the idea of not voting because you “hate Joe Biden” or because you’ve suddenly become a one issue voter and haven’t bothered to develop a real understanding of the one issue that is allegedly animating you.

This is a binary choice, one of these two candidates is going to win, one of them isn’t perfection, the other is a completely corrupt asshole who wants me to die, and since this is the queer trans disabled monsterfucker website, if you are reading this, he almost certainly wants you to die too.

Act like it.

Types of Phantom Thief Outfits

Oftentimes when someone genderbends one of the male Phantom Thieves, their Thief outfit is always redone to include a skirt. This is something I always found strange, considering the fact that none of the girls wear skirts as part of their Thief outfit. In fact, with P5X introducing a truckload of new Phantom Thieves, I realized that the lack of skirts and dresses almost seems to be a rule when it comes to the designs, as NONE of the new characters wear skirts.

So, because of that, I wanted to break down the kinds of outfits the Thieves actually wear, from most common to least common.

nearly all libraries have a ghost, but medical libraries frequently have a ghost and a skeleton

i’ve been reminded that most people don’t know about the ghost

‘ghost reading’ means collecting usage stats for books which are used within the library, without being checked out (which would automatically generate usage data).

This is often done by checking out the book to a dummy user account belonging to The Library Ghost before it’s reshelved. (After being returned ofc. Ghosts read very fast.)

Due to ghost reading, most libraries ask that you do not return books to the shelves yourself, even if you’re confident of where they go - there will instead be somewhere they’ll ask you to leave them (or just leave them out on a surface somewhere) so they can be collected and ghost read.

I knew about leaving books out after you read them, but I didn't know about the ghost account thing! Thank you for explaining that 👍

What the whole "walrus vs. fairy" thing really illustrates is the importance of defining your terms. What some folks are clearly taking "a fairy" to mean – including, based on their subsequent remarks, the original poster – is "you open the door and see something which by its very existence utterly refutes the validity of human reason as a means of gaining knowledge about the world, and you are instantly, intuitively and irresistibly aware of this fact", but what the overwhelming majority of people interpreted it to mean is "you open the door and see Tinkerbell", and those are two very different propositions!

(Well, unless you're the sort of person for whom seeing Tinkerbell would instantly provoke a full on H-P-Lovecraft-finding-out-he's-part-Welsh existential crisis, in which case they are in fact the same proposition, but this does not seem to be the majority opinion.)

People have discussed this to death already, but "an existence which refutes reason" - in terms of a "fairy" - requires thought. It's totally irrelevant on every level to the question "which would surprise you more".

Many have pointed out if the question was about a fictional creature which is also larger and incapable of knocking on a door, everyone would pick that option. Like, dragon or a walrus. Bipedal werewolf or a walrus. Hypogriff or a walrus. Giant bee or a walrus. Any beast of equivalent size to a walrus that is fictional, especially of predator species, are going to surprise you more - you have no instincts on how to deal with it, and it's going to make you spiral because trying to think of how to deal with it will immediately trigger the "wait, this is an existence which refutes reason" response, so you STAY shocked. You can't problem-solve a fictional animal that may attack you.

A fairy is a fucking fairy. It's humanoid. I don't instinctively gauge humanoids as threats. The impact will be delayed. I'm afraid, I'm bewildered, I'm stunned, it's going to take me a moment to process what I'm looking at, so I am not surprised in the way half of my line of sight being filled by a huge unpredictable animal heralded by a knock at the door would surprise me.

Happy birthday month (I think)!!! I suddenly had a memory of your birthday being around this time of year and I think it was in February?? Anyway, either way I hope you’ve been having a good month!!

Avatar

Thank you!! You're right, my birthday is in February! Feb 1st! I'd say, all things considered, it's been a good birthday month. Things have gotten a little hectic sometimes, but I think this year is going to be a great one.

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes! And I hope you have a wonderful rest of February!

How Secret Are the Phantom Thieves' Secret Identities?

Joker

  • Police: Know exactly who he is due to his arrests and even send people to spy on him from time to time.
  • Public: Have enough information to find out but not explicitly stated.

When the police revealed that they had caught the leader of the Phantom Thieves on November 20th (and later revealed his death), they did not mention his name. Instead, Joker is described as a teenager on probation for assault who was sent to Tokyo for the year.

Though his school was not directly mentioned, the fact that the first incident occurred at Shujin Academy makes it relatively clear that that is the school he went to. Later, after his second arrest as leader of the Thieves, Shujin admits that he was a student of their school when pushing for his release.

Though they never mention his name, anyone who wanted to could easily do some digging on Shujin Academy, find out there was a transfer student in the second year who had a criminal record, and put the pieces together. So, though his identity was technically never leaked to the public, it appears as if it is more of an open secret.

Interestingly enough, Akane from Strikers does not know Joker’s identity. Despite being a superfan (to the point of running a Phantom Thief news livestream) she can only wonder who he might be. This implies one of three things. Either

A: Despite his identity being easy to find if one did some digging, no one has bothered to actually do the digging and thus he remains anonymous.

B: Hacker extraordinaire Futaba Sakura hid or obfuscated any evidence that could reveal the identity of the leader of the Phantom Thieves based on the information the police gave.

C: Due to the fact that it was the police who leaked most of that info, it is considered poor form to use that information to figure out the leader’s identity.

Option C relies on social etiquette. After all, the Phantom Thieves are very anti-police, and their fans are likely too. The leader of the Phantom Thieves had no say over that information about himself being leaked to the public by the people who literally tried to kill him, so using that information could be considered wrong by his fans. Thus, even though most have a general idea that the leader of the Phantom Thieves is the transfer student from Shujin Academy, actually looking into who that is could be considered rude by Phans and PhantomFreaks.
