Welcome to the Tomb

I was once someone, once warmed by blood and the beat of a heart. But no more. No more am I a man, a King, or human. I am but a corpse knit together by magic and souls. Partner: Yugi (Arcanelight) /Independent Non-Canon Atem. Multishipping/NSFW Friendly

Taking a deep breath of the night air, he licked his teeth. Ohh there was something delicious in the air tonight. Pushing off the wall he had been leaning on, he stalked into the darkness of the shadows to follow that scent like a siren song.

The hunt had begun.

He would eat well tonight.

As expected of the other. Yami nodded.

"Of course. It was our agreement after all. I'm doing fine. Not much different from the occasional hunts. Oh. I did get a staff though. My magic is under much better control these days."

Confusion flickered within his red and green hues. Why would he pose a threat to the family? Yami didn't harbor any ill will nor did he want to... Wait. What was happening? Instinctively he took a step or two back.

The survival reflex in him was strong. It was why Yami tended to listen to his anxiety. It kept him breathing for a while longer. Come to think of it... Had Yami ever seen the other like this before? It got his attention. No question. But he didn't attack. Which may have been a good sign. He had launched magic on reflex before.

"It's... Different?" Yami didn't quite know what that meant. Did it mean torture before death? Was taking food more survivable? "I... Understand." Protecting loved ones was something he knew very well. And if Yami didn't get a grasp? Taking him out made sense. As at that point he was a threat to almost everyone.

"Good~" He practically purred at him, smoke leaving his lips in a curling tendril. His eyes returned to normal and he tossed the cigarette down, crushing it under his boot.

He didn't feel like elaborating, but as he shifted, turning back to the distance he had been so interested in, it was like the shadows shifted with him.

"Was there anything else you wanted from me. Surely you didn't come here just to 'check up' on me."

He set the staff down and leaned against it. "It gets easier with time." Yami was not certain of how much time this would take. Still better than it had been before. He nodded. "As always. I will stay away from your food."

"Good. That and don't be a threat to my family. That's all I care about. Though..." He took another deep inhale. "You posing a threat to my family would have a very different reaction than if you stole my food." He turned to him again, eyes turning black with his blood red irises glowing.

"Good you get a grasp on yourself now. Before I take you out to keep my territory safe."

"A conduit helps a great deal." He chuckled. "Oh yes. I have a lot of practice to do." Yami called forth his magician's staff. "A friend of mine helped me re learn what magic truly is. Since then... I have been training. Getting in a better mindset." Magic wasn't just power.

Oh. Yami blinked when he saw him stare for a moment. He wasn't sure about questioning that.

"I still need to devour. Possibly more now that I'm practicing. But I have things under better control than I did before. So it's a start."

He glanced at him again when the staff appeared, though he calmly just puffed out more smoke.

"If it helps, it helps. Good you found something to occupy your time with. Not everyone is cut out for this existence. You'll learn sooner or later. Just don't eat my food."

He slowly raised an eyebrow. A staff...How interesting. "I suppose if it helps you get control." Another inhale of his cigarette and he turned to stare out at possibly only things he could see. Tracking movements in shadows, soft and distant footsteps.

Food.

"You have a lot to learn after all."

"Ah. You really know how to make an entrance. So... Things have been... Well? You seem alright."

He looked the other up and down, eyes calm and cold. Slowly he let out his breath, the smoke curling into the night air.

"Of course. Little to fear when I'm the thing that goes bump in the night. What about you, keeping out of my feeding grounds I hope."

"It was a god that recreated it. Or... Made a replica. Or... Whatever this is supposed to be. It was to try and seal away the... Other magic." Or so Yami had been told. Who knew anymore when it came to the gods? "It... Is possible my memories are a bit... Skewed though." Dangerous magic was never a joke. "Something wrong? Hmm..." It was shadow magic. "Do you think I should... Lock it up?"

Avatar

He shrugged. "I can't tell you what to do or what I think. My only opinion is that those items were a curse from the start." He tossed the cigarette when he was done with it to the ground and crushed it under his boot. "The originals were never supposed to exist in the first place, so I can only imagine what a replica might do. Or its just a waste of gold."

Avatar

"I just wish I knew how to control it... Better. This anger..." Yami sighed and leaned back on his palms. "Sometimes it feels like a godly force or something." His mixed hues shifted down towards the recreated Puzzle. "Maybe... There's something I haven't thought of yet. With this Item they gave me."

Avatar

Mac watched him for a moment before taking another drag on the cigarette. "Emotions are hard in general. You ever think there's something wrong with it?" He gestured to the puzzle. "You can't simply recreate those items. A lot of hell and bloodshed went into them. And I imagine making a replica would be an affront to the gods."

“Well this is turning into an entertaining day so far,” he hummed and sipped his coffee, content to observe.

“My temper is not worth a second death. So yeah. I’m trying. I also reunited with my partner some time ago and I hold back for him too. Just wish some people wouldn’t try to get on my nerves. It’s almost like they want me to tear them apart.”

Avatar

"Then you're learning," he took a breath and let it out in a steady stream of smoke. "The masked ones getting on peoples nerves is their favorite past time. They know they're like trickster gods and can get away with most things. You react, and they'll keep prodding." He shrugged.

"Just how this weird world works."

Avatar

"Actually, I'm not the one picking them most of the time these days. If someone has a problem with me, then it's their own fault. I'm not their babysitter, you know."

Avatar

"Oh really? So you've cooled down on your trigger temper?" He raised an eyebrow.

Avatar

"Nice seeing you again. Staying out of trouble? Heh."

Avatar

"I am the trouble, people stay out of my way." He mumbled as he lit a cigarette. "I see you are still picking fights."
