!! miraculous s5 spoilers !!
man, this show is really weird with its mlm and wlw representation. the only two “canon” couples in the show are never actually referred to as anything more than good friends in universe, whatever it is / was marinette had going on with fei and kagami, and now the only actual canon lgbtq+ representation in the show acknowledged in universe is in the form of zoe lee who has a crush on marinette … who is dating adrien.
so thank you miraculous for choosing not to make julerose and marcnath canon in universe for “censorship” purposes and then turn right around and give us wlw zoe who shows interest in one of the only girls in the show with a significant other.
((for the inevitable comments that will say “but thomas astruc said-“ he is literally doing no different than someone on twitter or tumblr typing in their headcanons for the show. it’s just that people take his word as law because he is the creator.))
coming back to this like almost a whole year later and people still do not understand the point i was trying to make is baffling
my point was that having zoe be the first canon character in universe to be attracted to someone of the same gender was kind of jarring considering we had how many seasons of implied julerose and marcnath?
and this isn’t even going into detail about how the show (at the time) wrote around these things so that they could have their their proverbial cake and eat it too by teasing lgbtq+ characters and relationships, but never actually touching them so that the show could air anywhere in the world.
