❝ Coachella, thank you for allowing me to be the first black woman to headline Coachella. Ain’t that ‘bout a bitch? ❞

When I decided to do Coachella, instead of me pulling out my flower crown, it was more important that I brought our culture to Coachella. There was a four month period of rehearsals with Derek and the band before we started the four months of dance rehearsals. The music and those vocal rehearsals - that’s the heartbeat of the show. I wanted all of these different characters, and I wanted it to feel the way I felt when I went to battle of the bands, because I grew up seeing those shows and that being the highlight of my year. So, I studied my history, I studied my past, and I put every mistake, all of my triumphs of my 22-year career into my two-hour homecoming performance.

“The performances [in ‘Us’] are uniformly fantastic, but I was most impressed by Wright and Nyong’o, both delivering distinct and completely unique work. Nyong’o gives a masterclass in acting in dual roles and is almost unrecognizable as her doppelgänger persona. Not only does she take on an entirely different voice, but her posture, movements and facial expressions are a different individual entirely. At times, I had to remind myself that this was the same woman; that’s just how good she is.”

Do you think it's worth it to watch what's missing from the fifth season of The 100 before the sixth season is released? ((I stopped watching in the second episode of s5))

“Everything I think and everything I do is wrong. I was wrong about Elton, I was wrong about Christian, and now Josh hated me. It all boiled down to one inevitable conclusion: I was just totally clueless.” ― Clueless (1995) dir. Amy Heckerling
