Sailor Moon Crystal. It’s not the same as like Dragon Ball Kai which is just an edited remaster.
The reason humans should go extinct | Created to piss off the original fans | It’s the biggest piece of dogshit | I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed | I’d give it more credit if this was an original property | I never saw this show and/or the original show so I can’t judge | it’s passable | It captures some of the magic of the original | it adds a fun change or two but keeps the themes consistent | It is on the level of the original | It EXCEEDS the original in some places | It’s the Definitive iteration.
I never watched crystal (the animation style made their eyes look too weird for me)
And from what I’ve heard. The original is still better
LISTEN!! the first season’s eyes MIGHT be wonky but if you look past that you can see the GLORY of Naoko Takeuchi’s original work.
Sailor Moon is the show I watched when I was a kid and boy I LOVED IT. I drew the sailors when I was like 6 in my notebooks.
BUT I rewatched the og 90s anime about two months ago and oof. OOF. They add SO. MUCH. FILLER. They changed original plots to the point some pairings are completely different from the original manga, they even change some of the personalities of the sailors ;;; (Like Mars wasn’t that mean -or even interested in Tuxedo Mask- and Jupiter in the 90s anime is shown as a flimsy girl who falls in love with everyone when she’s the opposite in the manga ;;;) To be fair, I skipped a lot of the filler episodes but those personality changes on the sailor made me go OOF. The 90s aesthetics tho are unbeatable though. I’m sorry but I prefer being true to the original work as much as possible ig so this is my opinion.
Sailor Moon Crystal, on the other hand, is basically an adaptation of the manga, so it keeps everything faithful to the original work. The art style kinda sucks on the first season but they pick it up (also in the blueray version they fixed mistakes) AND LET ME TELL YOU WHEN URANUS APPEARS THE CRYSTAL ANIME MADE ME QUESTION IF I WAS BI. I know i’m not but hey that was pure beauty. It’s great. I loved it. I’m only picky about the start shaped earrings they changed for Mars but other than that if you’re a tired adult with not much free time, go for Crystal. I don’t have the time to watch 100 episodes of filler from the og 90s anime 🫠
Also not me here waiting for Seiya to be animated in Crystal style and tear me apart nope.
