Erika was a little frustrated that her cousin couldn’t make it out today with her but duty calls. She’d opted for a walk through the park instead, enjoying the fresh air and sunlight.
Erika was so busy trying to decide on where to go after this that she barely noticed the dip in the ground before her. She felt herself stumble over the divet and then braced herself to hit the ground. Why had she thought her luck would be any better today than it had been all week?
He was an old man, but he still had steel reflexes. Twisting to grab the girl mid-fall, the swordsman turned and stopped her from falling by bracing her against his arm.
Helping her to her step, he’d release her and smile.
“Mind where you’re stepping Señorita. We wouldn’t want you to go through another scare like that.” The soft-spoken swordsman chimed, as he smiled one last time before resuming his stroll.
Thank goodness someone else had been around, although she did flush slightly from embarrasment.
“O-of course,” she replied softly, and for a moment considered continuing on her way but decided to walk alongside him.
“Forgive me if I come off as nosy but I don’t think I’ve ever heard an accent like yours. Are you from around here or are you traveling?”
