“Kyo! Listen to me!” Her nails had dug firmly into his shoulders, desperately trying to bring him back to reality. “Everything is going to be okay... I promise.” Hanon had never seen him like this, but it scared her. This behavior was so uncharacteristic of him that she found herself shaking and struggling to keep her grip. “I’m going to stay here with you until everything is fine, okay? I’m not going to leave your side.”

“Hey, are you today’s date? Cause you’re 10/10!”

Her face lights up red, unsure what she had just heard. Hanon could usually take these compliments in stride or brush them off if she felt it was too weird. But to hear those words come from a girl like her? Surely the azurette had to be hearing things wrong.

“Yes- I mean, um... what?”

It was when a gasp escaped from him that he was shocked, never once had he even seen a lady return a gesture like that. His heart began to race when he gave her a rare, genuine smile as he laughed loudly. “You know you can be quite the tease when you want to be.” Alois extended his other hand up to caress her cheek “But, so can I.” He replied softly as he closed his eyes, leaning over to grace her cheek with a gentle kiss.

Now her heart was racing, unprepared and struggling to grasp what had just occurred. The mermaid’s hand rested gently against her cheeks, just where his lips had been momentarily. She didn’t expect a playful gesture to go so far.

Her confidence had faded, but Hanon wasn’t sure if she could back down now. With a reddened face, the azurette leaned up and pressed her lips to his cheeks though not nearly as poised as before. When she pulled away, her bright eyes averted away from the human as she internally interrogated herself over what she had done.

Startled, she jumped a little as the other called out to her. pale features turned to a light rosy color, to learn she had an audience was quite the shock. letting out a sigh she turned to the girl && observed her, how long had she been there? was she there when she had arrived? whatever the case, it didn’t matter, the only person she’d ever heard such kind words from was her mother, she’d always sing together with her. it was one of the few ways to calm herself && reminisce on memories.

“thank you….but isn’t it a little rude to listen in on others in secret?” deep within her, she was quite joyous from the others words however her outer appearance reflected the opposite. she looked at the other with a stern face, she could not , however, hide her embarrassment as her face flushed with a rosy color.

Quickly, the azurette retreated down the boulder, startled and embarrassed. With her back against the rock, Hanon’s breath grew rapid and short. She was never this impulsive around humans, at least not when she was like this. The mermaid couldn’t help but wonder what had come over her to act so irresponsibly.

Cautious, the young girl turned to face her accuser. Bright blue eyes peered from behind the rock, though her distinct features remained hidden. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to be,” she offered trying to ease any tension. “I couldn’t help but listen. You’re such a good singer!”

Alois bent down to take Hanon’s hand as she surfaced through the water, chuckling softly as he kissed the back of her hand. “I learned this is what you’re supposed to do when you see a princess.” —Alois

Princess huh? She was never fond of the title, but would never deny it. Though the mermaid wouldn’t openly admit appreciating such formalities. Instead, her wrist flips around and grabs onto his hand, pulling it close while she places a gentle kiss on the back of it. “So I guess it’s fair I only do the same to you,” she teased playfully.
