"Today has changed my life." These are the words of nine-year-old Momo on the day she received her fully-functional robotic arm, built by Easton LaChappelle. She spent the day practicing different hand positions – from high-fives and fist bumps, to handshakes and hearts. From here, Easton’s goal is to make this technology available to others like Momo.

Easton's "aha moment" came when he met a little girl at a science fair when he was 14 years old. He noticed the robotic arm he'd made "for a couple hundred dollars in my bedroom" was more advanced than her $80,000 prosthetic arm. Six years later, he's shared his first fully functioning artificial limb prototype with another young girl named Momo.

As a kid, Easton LaChappelle could often be found in his room taking electronics apart and putting them back together. This turned into teaching himself robotics, giving TED talks, and starting his own company as a teen. Now, at age 21, he’s creating artificial limbs that could change millions of lives. And it all starts with one young girl. Learn more about Easton at www.microsoft.com/inculture/peoplewhoinspire
