my favorite thing about this post is that a handful of people have gone "oh wait! this is tangible proof that i don't need to be embarrassed about leaving a lot of comments!! i'll stop being so ashamed!" YES!! ao3 authors basically universally will die for people who comment spam. we love to see it and we do not find you weird or annoying At All.
think about it this way: we ourselves are weird enough to have spent several hours, days, or Months writing down this story. we are weird enough about the content to do that! why on Earth would we be mean and judgmental toward people who care enough to get excited about reading it?? we shared it Specifically For You To Get Excited About!

Urge to podfic my Hellish Encounters series, vs the fact that I cannot fucking do either a Brooklyn or a Trans-Atlantic accent, fight!
Podfic would be amazing! I'd probably only manage the not sex scene ones but it would still be lovely.
I know "generative AI" is art theft, but what about just putting a radio filter over Alastor? It would still be distinctly him. Brooklyn accent is a harder problem to solve, Maybe someone in the fandom will come in clutch.
Yeah radio filter is easy enough but I’m an un-recovered theatre kid, I want it to be riiiight! lol
I do think I could learn a Brooklyn accent, I can sometimes manage a more general New York accent so, like, if I actually tried and practiced it would probably work out?
But I absolutely cannot do Trans-Atlantic. It doesn’t work lol. I can’t. It either goes fully British or is just nothing.
Okay, so I've thought about it...
And it's not happening right now because I still have not fully recovered from this round of bronchitis, yes I'm pissy about it
But I think what I's have to do is record in passes, one through for narration and most characters' dialogue, and at least one other pass for just Angel's dialogue. Cuz I can get into something that's passable as New York and stay in it, but I cannot switch back and forth.
(Would have to do the same with Rosie, and probably also with Cherri cuz my Australian is rough)
Damnit I have another idea
But it does not fit in the lineup until I finish other fics (the angsty one, the aro BSOD one, Paint the Town Red, and the “oh shit Al is actually scary” one)
Like those all run into each other like dominoes, it might actually only be 2 fics
But they flow directly from Wilful Game in a way I don’t want to interrupt, and enough is gonna HAPPEN in them that it really doesn’t work to post anything that’s set after them first

…you know, it occurs to me I have developed a tiny bit of a trans-Atlantic accent by virtue of, y’know, having moved across the Atlantic. At least, I’ve had a British ex tell me I did, and I can hear how my pronunciation of some words has changed. But having looked up the Trans-Atlantic Accent, apparently it’s a an accent that is ONLY consciously learned, so don’t get too excited
I totally get that about being an unrecovered theater kid. Every time I post something to Indaband I have to tell myself at some point it is Good Enough or else I will keep re-recording bits until I die
Yeah fun fact, the one time I’ve been to the UK it took me about 3 hours for my accent to get totally fucked. I was very much not trying to “do a British accent” because what kind of a dumbass tourist thing would that be, it just happened
I absorb British accents like a sponge (I blame my father’s taste in media) so when I try to bring some of those influences in to do a Trans-Atlantic it just takes over.
