you may think the difference between an 8am and a 9am class is only one hour, but it’s actually 10,000 eons. little known fact to consider when you schedule your courses

Here's a reminder that the Doctrine of Discovery, an 1823 law declaring that colonial/conquering powers have automatic rights to the lands of sovereign nations, is still the foremost law cited in Supreme Court cases which undermine indigenous sovereignty and indigenous rights to ancestral lands.

Indigenous sovereignty, or lack thereof, in the United States is entirely dependent on how the current Supreme Court justices decide to twist a 200 year old colonial law to suit their needs. This goes for not just conservative judges but also "liberal" ones, as seen in Sherrill v. Oneida Nation, when it was decided that a tribe purchasing ancestral tribal lands did not actually restore sovereignty to those lands and they could not be considered Indian territory by law, with Ruth Bater Ginsburg writing the majority opinion.

The Supreme Court has never been and will never be on the side of indigenous people. It is a system desiged to uphold colonial rule.

it really is so exhausting being fat bc fatphobia is so ubiquitous and still so socially acceptable. like people might pay lip service to body positivity but that hasn't really changed the cultural landscape so far. it's a near certainty that any media i engage with, no matter how much i enjoy it and how progressive it otherwise is, will contain some reminder of how repulsive and laughable society finds my body, especially if it's a comedy. that's really fucking alienating. if i made "contains no fatphobic jokes" a prerequisite for my media consumption i would end up with a very short list.

quick someone colonize britain while they're weak

ireland youre right next door

List of people on this post who should shut the fuck up immediately:

1. White Brits

2. White people going “Yeah and it should be France/Spain/Netherlands/Australia/New Zealand invading them!”

3. People going “stop saying Britain when you mean England !!¡!¡” actually I mean Britain

4. People talking about the time the Normans/Vikings/Saxons invaded. I don’t care

Trekkies you guys are doing fine spam that Data quote as much as you want

@hantii “Britain” is a colonial construct and many many white Scottish and Welsh people happily wore the label of the British empire and became colonists elsewhere, despite being colonized themselves. They distinguished themselves from the people they colonized by labeling themselves as white British. Because they were less powerful in England, they used their whiteness and Britishness to become powerful elsewhere.

You cannot deny the imperial nature of not just England, but Britain as a whole. I am all for solidarity with Scottish and Welsh struggles, but your solidarity is fake if your first instinct when people descended from former British colonies criticize Britain is to identify with Britain.

Cymru was England's first colony. We suffered under them for hundreds of years and to this day we are one of the few of their colonies that are both a) still under English rule and b) not spoken for by anyone who isn't Cymreig, Scottish or Irish. If you're not Cymreig, you don't get a say, sorry.

Cymru DID become pliant in England's colonial power. This is something we should admit to and fight against. No one is denying that. But there were major structural differences between Cymru and England that make the nature of that colonial power both significantly different and significant disproportionate. Equating Cymreig colonialism with English colonialism demonstrates your vast misinterpretation of internal political powers.

Thirdly, kinda racist to assume that every Cymreig person is white, ngl. Actually, that's disgusting in itself. Cymru is a diverse country and every race can come here and share our culture and identify as Cymreig.

I did not claim that all Welsh or all Scottish people are white, I specifically specified that white Scottish and Welsh people enacted this sort of imperialism, since Scots and Welsh people of color almost always did not.

And I am not equating Welsh imperialists with English Colonialism. I’m equating them with British colonialism. Just as there is a hierarchy separating you from the English, there is a hierarchy separating former British colonies from you AND England. White Welsh and Scottish imperialists weren’t just “pliant” to British colonialism, many of the British imperialists and colonialists who went to African and Asian colonies were Scottish and Welsh. English and British imperialism are certainly interconnected, but they are not exactly the same.

This isn’t even like forbidden knowledge or a fringe theory or anything. Many Indians I know would consider this somewhat common knowledge (depending on how knowledgeable you are on history). Many Indians who were alive under colonialism have commented on how many Scottish and Welsh imperialists were in India.

Also “American pseudohistory” BOTH OF THE ACADEMIC SOURCES LISTED ARE BY OTHER SCOTTISH AND WELSH PEOPLE.

It really is upsetting that only Jews and Jewish news sites are reporting on the fact that Highland Park is a predominantly Jewish neighbourhood, and that so far one of the victims was confirmed to be Jewish. There was a Klezmer Band at the parade.

Everyone keeps talking about it being a random attack but there's no way it was random.

The shooter has been identified as Robert E. Crimo III but he's hasn't yet been found. So far, 2 out of the six killed have been confirmed to be Jewish.

May their memories be a blessing.

Yep. It's also important to not that Crimo had a history of posting MAGA related content and white supremacy. This is not a random attack, it was racially and antisemitically motivated.

College is so annoying it's always like 'Oh if you want to do XYZ go talk to the Department of Vague But Important Policies located in the Coconut Building' and then you go there and they are like 'sorry actually we can't help you with that you need to talk to the Executive Director of Confusing Paperwork Joe Balogna over at Saint Broccoli Memorial Tower his office hours are 12-2pm every other Monday and Thursday.'

You people realize the body positivity movement is literally a political movement right. Like it's a movement that was started to improve the rights of fat people and stop discrimination against fat people. You realize that. It's not a tea party where everyone just compliments everyone else on their looks.

I’m honestly fucking appalled that the greater LGBT community is dead silent on the fact that the Indian Child Welfare Act is going under review which means that white people are finalizing their steps at complete genocide against us (Native peoples). They will sterilize all Natives and steal our babies to be raised by you demons (white people). I’m sure the gays are silent though because how many white gays adopt children not of their own race. Fucking baby stealers.

@astronomazed thank you for actually taking the time to find a link instead of harassing me and spouting racist & transphobic rhetoric like I have been getting from many people for weeks.

The Best [advice]: The best writing advice I ever received was in a fortune cookie that said: “the work teaches you how to do it.” The work, the art, whatever you wish to create, is the best teacher—an organizing intelligence begins to reveal itself only when you start writing. So get to work! The second best writing advice is Goethe’s “do not hurry; do not rest.”

Never gonna forget that time I said that I wished there were more sober queer community spaces b/c I'm an alcoholic (1268 days yo) and I feel left out b/c everything in my town happens at bars, and Everybody On Tumblr got real mad at me b/c they assumed I was attacking gay bars as a concept

You are Like 12 and have never been to or seen a gay bar. I am Old and have a habit of enjoying them a bit too much. I have forgotten more about the importance of the bar and club scenes than you'll ever know. Just let a queen drink her ginger ale in peace.

People have gotten real mad at me for wanting queer spaces other than clubs/bars because bars and clubs are innately inaccessible for disabled people, too. I dont just mean how alcohol mixes with most medications or flashing lights either, I mean the unnecessary amount of stairs and lack of genuine handicap stalls or even wide enough door frames for larger mobility aids to fit through. Just to start.

The queer community has an ableism problem, treatment of people in recovery included.
