hi neil, i hope your day was better than mine.

i got my hair cut today and i can't stop crying about it. it looks so bad. and it's right before school starts too. i'm not exaggerating when i say it looks like a 5 year old took scissors to my hair while i was sleeping. and it was done by a professional at a good salon! i don't know what happened but i'm devastated and maybe i'm just emotional/sentimental but i keep crying about it and i feel silly after because i know it's just HAIR.

anyways, you probably won't see this but i had to let someone know. and also, i think you would be proud of me because i have been in a reading slump for a year and last week i decided to do something about it. so i read coraline one day, ocean at the end of the lane the next, the graveyard book after, and lastly i took two days to read anansi boys. i'm planning on reading american gods next. the idea was to start off short and small and work my way up and i think it's working. thank you for your work and please never stop writing. and great job on season two by the way, it was beautiful.

please come to wisconsin soon so you're able to sign my good omens copy!

with love, ollie

Here. I will try to cheer you up with me in October 2016 as Hurricane Matthew is hitting Florida and I have just had a very strange haircut from the only barber who hadn't closed because of the incoming hurricane. The wind noise in the background is the start of the hurricane. The haircut was because I thought we'd lose power and I might have to fight zombies and shorter hair would help. To add insult to the haircut, it had a ducktail at the back.

The khaki jacket had lots of pockets and was hurricane gear too. (I slept in the bathtub that night. The howls of the wind got loud but I didn't lose power and I was fine.)

And it still wasn't as bad a haircut as the one I got when I was 16 when my dad took the hairdresser aside before the haircut and told him that whatever I asked for, what he was to do was cut it all off and give me a short back and sides. And he did. There are no photographs.

I hope this helps. I'm proud of you too.

Hi Neil. I've just finished watching Good Omens season 2 and I found it absolutely adorable but I do have a question in mind. Why doesn't Aziraphale suggest Crowley to stay with him when he finds out he lost his apartment or why doesn't he say anything at all about the situation?

Avatar

He doesn't know. Crowley doesn't tell him. Crowley doesn't tell anyone. The only reason Shax knows is that she's living in his old apartment.

When Crowley asks for his flat back Aziraphale doesn’t exactly question it or have a reaction however? I suppose a lot is happening in that moment, but I kept wondering about it since I know Michael also mentioned Aziraphale not knowing.

If I read something on the asks that feels genuinely threatening or dangerous, or that's actually abusive, I just delete it and block the person.

If I'm answering an ask here you can assume that as far as I'm concerned even if it's apparently threatening or angry, it's meant humorously or with love.

It's never appropriate to dogpile people. Never appropriate to threaten or abuse them, even if you think you are doing it for me and with the best of intentions. Don't.

If you are upset on my behalf, or on behalf of all Tumblr users, just think "this is probably a tone-deaf attempt at humour" and let it go.

Reblogging because I'm seeing people upset or offended on my behalf. To repeat, If I'm answering an ask here you can assume that as far as I'm concerned even if it's apparently threatening or angry, it's meant humorously or with love.

If I think something is actually unpleasant or bad, I'll just block them.

Don't dogpile on my behalf. I don't want you to, I think it's actively a bad idea, and it's bullying. (Remember: it can still be bullying when more than one of you turn up, even when you think you're in the right or the aggrieved party.)

Play nice, never attribute to malice what can easily be attributed to internet-caused text-based tone-deafness or misinterpretation, and everyone will have an easier time.

The Captions Are Fixed!

GOOD NEWS! Sarah-Kate Fenelon has worked very hard (thank you Sarah-Kate) and the Amazon engines have rolled, and if you watch Good Omens S2 with the closed captions on you should be in for a pleasant surprise.

If you've seen it before with closed captions, I'd watch it again.

(I just watched 10 minutes from episode 5, and every line was on the money.)

New day, new pin reveal. Is that a thing? Let's make that a thing.

We're gradually unveiling some of the pin designs available in the mystery packs on Kickstarter. We'll be adding a dedicated add-on section to the Kickstarter campaign page to lay out what's available and answer some questions people have had about it, so watch this space.

Get the graphic novel, pins and more over on Kickstarter.

If you have already supported the Kickstarter, you can head over and add the pins over in the manage your pledge section.

If you haven't supported the Good Omens Graphic Novel Kickstarter, you probably should. It's going to be a beautiful book, even more beautiful than we had dreamed because we've managed to hit some fancy pledge goals, and incredible value for money.

(There is also fun Stuff in the upper tiers.)

It's really this. And some people (guess who) really hate it.

We have in this equation many, many people who, more than anything else, fear their own deaths... the final and most dreadful loss of control. After they die (and here comes their greatest terror!) the young will remake the world in their own image... there being no (putative) grownups any more to stop them.

So they're presently trying to alter political structures all over the planet in such a way as to prevent the Naughty Youngs from too quickly undoing everything their (theoretically Wise Old) elders have done. They're intent on running your lives by their rules for absolutely as long as possible, even after they're dead.

...Now. There's a lot of "Don't expect the young to save us!" stuff out there, and sometimes I half suspect those other People are behind that too. (Admittedly, it's too easy when you're young and busy to blink your eyes open after a long night out and mutter "Yeah, you made this mess, save yourselves!")

But there's a way in which this is also ridiculous. Because... honestly. They expect a generation (indeed, more than one generation) raised on Luke Skywalker to fall for that?

Pitiful.

There are way too many potential heroes out there. Likely enough you're one. You don't even have to blow up a fully operational battle station to manifest this heroism! Just vote. Or help someone vote. Or more than one someone. Help voters in your community to register. Help defeat obvious attempts to gerrymander voters out of control of their own districts. Do the little things. Enough little things can't be stopped by the forces that assume everybody else to be as lazy and selfish as they are.

You outnumber the fascists. Stand up and act like it. "Snowflakes", they call us? Get enough snowflakes together and you've got an avalanche. Tried standing in front of one of those lately?

Meanwhile, I for one have no problems with saying, loudly, "Save us, O Young! You're our only hope." (Imagine me as a holographic projection if you must.) :)

And for now, I'll be out there doing what one person can.

Please, you do that too!

I love how Crowley is made to create the universe. That's his goal, his function "I've been waiting to do this since... well, since always."

And Aziraphale is made to create humanity. "The people we're currently designing" that was Aziraphale's reason for being made. His job as an angel.

And how their function is still ingrained in their very essence. Aziraphale is drawn to humanity, just like Crowley is drawn to the stars. It's in their very cores, which makes perfect sense why Aziraphale is risking everything for humanity and staying, and Crowley wants to explore the universe and go to Alpha Centauri.
