A fandom event focused on Nyota Uhura from Star Trek.

July 5th: I mentioned this in the discord server a week ago, but I caught Covid last week so I decided to push the current deadlines back a week to give me time to rest, which means I won't be emailing out the Match-up choices until at least the 8th of July. (Aiming to get them out around the 10th)

I'll probably need to push back the announcements by another week, too, in case I need more time to arrange them, so if you're wondering where your match-up email is, that's why it's taking so long to arrive! Thanks for being patient, & I'll contact you soon

hi! I'm interested in participating but I haven't quite understood how it works. do artists and writers get matched up based on their ideas and create complimentary pieces? and what exactly are primary and secondary creators? I tried getting the info from the google doc but I'm still unsure </3

Primary Creators are currently creating fics and/or artwork for the bang (Primary Artists and Primary Authors) and those drafts/sketches will be revealed to Secondary Creators next month. Secondary Creators are inspired by Primary Creators.

Secondary Artists will choose which written work they want to illustrate, and Secondary Authors will choose which artwork they want to create a fic/written work for.

A Primary Author will always be paired with a Secondary Artist, and a Primary Artist will always be paired with a Secondary Author.

This gives primary authors an extra month to write their fics, so anyone who's planning on doing a longer fic may wish to sign-up as a primary.

Solo creators can sign-up for the bang without worrying about submitting anything for the match-up deadlines.

You can sign up here, or email theuhurabang@gmail.com

[ID] All-caps text on a starry background reads: INFO. The 2023 Event will function as a combination Big Bang and Reverse Bang, with more casual Solo Creator options. Primary Creators will begin working on their fics or art first, and present their WIPS (sketches, an outline/description or written excerpts) during the selection/match-up process in June, and will then be matched up with Secondary Creators. [end ID]

Running the bang this way helps it be more flexible, which allows more people to participate!

At the risk of overcomplicating things: anyone can submit multiple pieces or sign up for multiple roles- for example, a primary author might submit 2 or 3 written pieces for match-ups, or a primary artist might submit several sketches. If we are unable to match up the subsequent pieces, that person may continue to work on them as a solo creator while also working on their main piece as part of a team. This year, we have several people signed up as both primary and secondary authors, which means they are writing one fic which will be matched with a (secondary) artist, but will also write another based on someone else's artwork.

It's been one week since sign ups started, and our primary author to secondary artist ratio is perfectly balanced right now! We still have 3 weeks left before sign ups close.
