The Flower: A 2D Animated Short Film

Help animator Andrew Simmons to finish his beautiful 2d short animated movie ‘The Flower’.

‘The Flower’ is a powerful film about the life and journey of a flower that falls into a river and floats downstream in 15th century Japan. It is a story of strength, loss, and remembrance of those we love. However, it’s not just the beautiful story that sets The Flower apart from all other animated projects being made today. Read more about the short and how you can help here.

If you can’t support the movie economically, you can help by spreading the word and share the project with everyone who’s a fan of traditional animation :)

Kazuo Oga - Postcard Book ‘Sky’

Beautiful postcards by Studio Ghibli artist Kazuo Oga.

Kazuo Oga is probably the most known Ghibli background artist. This postcard book was made in occasion of Oga’s exhibition in 2007. The theme of the book is the sky and it features background scenes from various films (Totoro, Only Yesterday, etc.) and paintings. The postcards are 12 (I’ve posted just a selection). I’ve bought it from a Japanese site but I saw it’s also available on ebay.

These are some really quick sketches of great women in the animation history for a project that I am working on at the moment. It has to do with my bachelor thesis that I hope to finish in the next months….we will see if it will happen as I plan :D Still…I will try to make more of these in the future whenever I have some extra 10 minutes
