1.) there’s hundreds of messages sent to this blog that i can’t bring myself to post. i’m sorry that i’ve abandoned this blog but this is a toxic way to combat terfs and i dont think that it actually does anything. i was hoping it would help people who want to know who to avoid for their own safety but i’m not really sure if it’s even accomplishing that goal. if anything this blog has just become a target for terfs/radfems/biological essentialists and something they use in their “See! Transactivists want us to DIE!!!!” rhetoric which they love so much.
2.) people accuse me of being lesbophobic in this blog when i’ve explicitly stated this blog is a.) run by a lesbian and b.) the how to spot a terf post mentions specifically how most posts of that nature are very lesbophobic. the accusations i’ve gotten are because i’m wary of lesbians who openly and proudly describe themselves as goldstars or women who would “never date dick” which is a reductive way to view dating and romance. i understand people have their reasons but to display this online and perpetuate this rhetoric is isolating to trans lesbians and their girlfriends, cis or otherwise as well as cis lesbians who don’t care what the genitals of their partners are, etc....
3.) for those of you who have submitted names... i’m sorry. i’ve failed you. i don’t have the energy to go through all of their blogs and most of you submitted on anon so i can’t in good faith just post your submissions.
4.) if you can, stay vigilant and do your research before reblogging feminist posts where you don’t know the OP, tell your friends if you see them reblogging a terf post... and if they say well it’s still a good feminist post, you can say well the fact that it’s penned by a terf means it excludes trans women and/or considers them men. if they still want to post it, tell them to steal it and re-post it instead.
5.) above all else, reblog and uplift the voices of trans women, recognize that everyone has different opinions and there is nuance to most arguments. prioritizing the safety and well-being of the transgender community is the most important and if you are a member of that community your own self-care is vital. stay safe, stay strong, and know that there are so many of us out here who love you and want you to succeed and find happiness.

thing is you really cant just tell from the url and most of the posts saying “easy ways to avoid terfs” are lesbophobic as fuck. the only way to really tell who believes what is to pay attention to their actual content, but if theyre not reblogging blatantly transphobic crap it can be difficult and take some time. thats just the way it is and always will be– sometimes its easier to tell than others.
some quick things to watch out for in abouts and descriptions:
- “gender critical” is anywhere in the about or bio. literally this is a terf. immediate red flag. - anti-porn (this is a swerf but likely friends with twerfs/terfs as well.. if you see this look at who theyre reblogging from) - a lot of talk about how sex-based oppression only or specifically/exclusively affects afab people without acknowledging the harm that trans women experience because of their assigned sex at birth etc - talks about a “female only” space - using terms “womyn/wombyn” (having that in a url) is generally enough to deserve further scrolling and investigation - if the user does happen to be a lesbian and also makes a lot of posts about how trans women are harassing cis lesbians and forcing them to have sex with them (ie, basically perpetuating mainstream cissexism/beliefs that every trans woman is a predator) you can pretty safely assume that this blogger is trans exclusionary - making/reblogging posts complaining about how people these days are going to assume their kids are trans and not just gender nonconforming - inclusion of trans men in female spaces and insisting they are female/have an “innate” connection to womanhood, denying their masculinity/manhood etc - reblogging from well-known twerfs* If you think you recognize a url or think a user someone you follow is following might be suspicious you should definitely take a look at their blog too. After all, who people are following on this site is almost as important as what they are posting because if someone’s scrolling the dash and willingly putting (and keeping!) transphobes on their dashboard then chances are they believe what they’re reading, at least to a certain extent. Anyways that’s roughly how I figure out who to put on these lists and I’ve had people asking if I’m going to be making another so i figured i would share this.. Stay safe everybody and remember… friends don’t let friends reblog TERFs.
