Pumpkin Party

On the counter sits a single carved pumpkin with the words ‘Happy Birthday’ carved into it. Next to it is a note written out, ‘I know you don’t want anything too big for your birthday so I’m not going to make a huge deal but just come out in the backyard.”
Set up out in the backyard is a pumpkin party, behind them stands Shaggy holding April, he bounces her in his arms. “Listen, like I know you don’t want me to go overboard or anything, so I just invited over a few guests. They won’t make too much noise or stay too long and like they’re not really big into cupcakes so more for us.”
Grinning, he steps around the carved pumpkins to walk towards Trill and bends down to give her a kiss, “Happy birthday Trill, we love you. Scoob’s trying to toast the pumpkin seeds to eat but he’d absolutely agree and like I know April does, don’t you?” Shaggy tickles the baby and gets a giggle, holding her up for Trill. “Now let’s get Scooby-Doo and like dig into these cupcakes.”

“Whoa, like hey there.” He beams as he returns the kiss, his thumb running along her back, “You sure you’re not just saying this because we were both pulling an all nighter with the baby and you’re tired?” He leans in and kisses her forehead, “I’m kidding. I love you too Trill. By the way, she seems to be sleeping, wanna come try and take a quick nap with me? Scoob can be the guard dog. Like, he’ll wake us if we’re needed.”

“The good thing at least is you kept some behind, like I’d be surprised if there’s any left at this point, but yeah, I’ll like meet you out there. I’ve just gotta get dressed.” And see if he could come up with anything for valentine’s day. He easily could have just went out in his pajamas, it was definitely an excuse. He still felt bad even if she didn’t. He was so busy with baby preparation that it had slipped his mind.
“Mhmm, I had to buy extra just in case. Not that I don’t mind Scooby eating most of them, but I do want some for tomorrow… if we can manage that.” She’d been craving bagels. Bagels and bananas. In fact she was thinking of toasting a bagel and putting bananas and peanut butter on it. “Alright, see you out there.” Leaning over she pressed a kiss to his forehead, then pulled back at headed for the bedroom door and into the kitchen.

He kept his hand on her stomach, rubbing his fingers gently across her belly lovingly. The whole thing was still surreal for him but he imagined it was much weirder for her. Leaning in towards her, he kissed her stomach and smiled. “Yeah, no that’s fine, like I can come out there and join you.” There was no way he could throw something together last minute but he’d just have to make do.
She smiled at him and moved her own hand to rest on top of his. When he kissed her stomach, she giggled softly and leaned down to kiss the top of his head. “Alright, sounds good. We should probably get out there anyway, no telling how many bagels Scooby has chowed down on since I’ve been in here…”
