At least I have my faith in Jesus Christ

It’s like “yeah there’s this guy who was the son of God and also God along with a spirit(?) of God and he’s the only legitimate ruler of earth” and you think wtf and then you read it and it turns out it’s literally the only things that make sense in this world like “help others”

“I don’t have to respect your deity because I don’t worship them” is a very odd logic to adopt while interacting with fellow pagans, I believe, especially for people who follow the same path or pantheon.

Let me specify that I wrote this thinking of pagans who don’t think to speak respectfully about deities they don’t worship, when interacting with fellow pagans on online spaces and social media. If I know that my post might be seen by people who worship this or that deity, then I’ll not openly speak badly of said deity, least of all mock them. Even if I don’t personally worship them, I’ll keep a certain level of respect knowing that other people do.

i wonder how it felt for Mary to look at Jesus and see her own features. how it felt to see the Messiah with your nose and chin, or your same taste in food, or even certain speaking habits/turns of phrase. what is it like to see the Savior of the world through pieces of you.

My favorite simple wards to guard the home

  • Hanging rosemary above the doorstep, and/or above doors of the house for protection.
  • Sprinkling a line of dried red pepper on a windowsill, to counter a curse.
  • Placing a mix of dried & ground eggshells and black pepper in every corner of a room to keep out unwanted spirits.
  • Placing a decoration representing a witch in the kitchen, to keep away illness and to favor health.
  • Crafting an effigie (no matter how crude!) and make it into the guardian of your home by charging it with your intent of protection and placing it near the front door.
  • Crafting small witch ladders to hang around the house.

Discrete Warding for the spiritual/witchy ppl that can’t practice in the open:

  • Use herbs you have in your kitchen. (Rosemary, salt, black pepper, and usually anything spicy can be used to protect yourself or your home. Be careful of some spices getting wet, though. They can dye your counters/door frames 😅)
  • Incorporate your witches ladders/fabric wards into crafts.
  • Keep a broom by your main entrance.
  • Burn a stick of incense by windows and doors and focus on your intention (also be careful n do your research. No appropriating. No harming your animals with smoke.)
  • Incorporate sigils in your art work or doodles :)

Low Energy Devotional Activities and Ways to Connect with the Gods

Let's be honest, religion and consistent practice can be HARD, especially when you're chronically ill, disabled, mentally ill or neurodivergent. This is a list of lower energy practices you can do to connect with your Gods when you're having a rough day.

  • Pray. You don't have to say the prayer. You don't have to do the full cleansing and offering. Just think about the prayer. It could be as simple as "'Deity Name', thank you. I'm thinking of you and appreciate you."
  • Dedicate any self care you do to the Gods. You've got to take meds? awesome. it's now a devotional activity.
  • If you can, light a tea light candle. You can think about who you're dedicating it to as you're lighting it.
  • Tell them about your day. Have a simple conversation with them (again, this can be in your head if needed).
  • Offer some water! Water is a great offering if you don’t have the energy to cook, collect or buy something.
  • Incense is also a great offering because you can light it then forget about it and your house won’t burn down (if you follow regular safety measures).
  • Resting. Your deities want you to be okay. Dedicating your rest to your deities is especially great if you feel guilty for allowing yourself time to heal.
  • Turn on a video of someone reading mythos!
  • Put on a deity playlist. There are plenty of pre-made ones on Spotify.
  • Veil or bind your hair! Whenever I’m low energy I’ll throw my hair in a ponytail and bind it that way. It doesn’t have to be extravagant.
  • Make a Pinterest board for them!
  • Post on a digital altar! There are plenty of discord servers that have digital altars and temples. You could also make a devotional Tumblr blog.
  • Change your phone lock/home screen to something that reminds you of your Deity.

I hope this is helpful to anyone who needs it! Take care of yourself first and foremost. If you don't think you can manage something on this list then thats perfectly fine too! you're not a bad person for not being able to do something spiritual or religious. Ultimately, these things are not a necessity. Don't stress :)

Kissing every mentally ill Christian on the cheek very tenderly right now. God made you perfectly, in His image. But this is a broken world, and it's not your fault. You are not your illness; God certainly doesn't see you that way. Do you have any idea how much He loves you? Through the psychotic episodes, the chasmic depressions, the tempestuous mania, debilitating anxiety, terrifying hallucinations, anything and everything you might suffer from...

You are still beautiful to Him. And to me, too. God loves you, and so do I.

Call me a heretic, but the Bible is Christian mythology written and interpreted by humans. I read it for fun, for references, for history studying.

My relationship with the Christian god is my own. Dictated by no priest, no book, no words from mortals.

alternative Hail Mary prayers

alternative prayers to pray on the rosary beads, written by me

Hail Lady of Roses, blessed be your many names. Shelter us beneath your starry mantle, O Mother of the world, and open our hearts. Queen of the cosmos, portal of life and death, guide us throughout the cycle of our being. Amen.

Hail Mary, Lady of deep soil, all life is within you. Blessed be your fruitful bounty, and blessed be our ancestral dead underfoot. Black Madonna, Mother of the earth, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Hail Guadalupe, maize mother, the serpent is with thee. Blessed is your starry mantle, and blessed is the moon beneath your feet. Lady of roses, radiant as the sun, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Black Madonna, earth mother, alchemize our sorrows. Root us in deep ancestral soil, that we may know the eternal source of peace within us.

Hail Sophia, source of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are your many names, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Wisdom. Holy Spirit, Mother and God, be with us, your children, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Oh Queen of Heaven, Star of the Sea, Gate of Dawn, we fly to thee. Moon-bright Mother, Mystical Rose, stay with us now and at life's close.

How To Get Free Books On Folklore

I do not believe in gatekeeping knowledge, so this post will be sharing how I get all my folklore books for free, legally.

To explain, when a book gets over a certain age and the copyright is not upkept, it falls under “public domain.” When that happens, many different websites will provide those books as a free download.

This is not restricted to one type of book, either. You can grab anything from Sherlock Holmes to history books, to folklore, and more.

If you are looking for a specific book, you may have to check more than one source, so I suggest bookmarking more than one website.

Example Websites:

For me when I download a book, I then upload them to my Google library so that I can use the search functions as well as bring up the books anywhere, but a popular PC option isCalibre.

If you are interested in Scotland-specific folklore, I do have some suggestions of books you can start with.
