’Forsakened I am awakened’ I was listening to Bury the light from DMC5 and it suddenly inspired me to make something focused on Knives.

the point of art is not to be great but to make it transparently obvious that there is something wrong with you

The point of art is to let other people know that the thing wrong with them is also wrong with you

This is in fact how you make friends

"the prefrontal cortex doesn't fully form until yr 25!!" y do u wish to take more agency away from teens and young adults. y do u refer to phrenology to inform yr worldview. I'm about to undevelop yr prefrontal cortex with a baseball bat if u don't shut the fuck up

for the ppl who keep saying this is an objective fact, from the Wikipedia list of common misconceptions:

it's pop science. it's pseudoscience. it's phrenology. it's not real. it's being used as an excuse to call older people pedophiles and take away the rights of younger people. shut the fuck up.

Also, the "development" people refer to is actually specialization of the brain. It removes little-used synaptic connections and reenforces the regularly used ones. This means if you don't train it, nothing will develop other than an increasing difficulty to grow. If you don't let kids and teenagers learn how to make decisions, you end up with adults who never learned how to make decisions and who will struggle more with it than they would have as kids.

The brain is fully formed by the time you're 3. Any further than that, we only get through practice and experience. The way we prohibit kids from gathering much of that experience on their own terms, in their own time, is abuse on a social scale.

I won't be getting involved too much for those fun aforementioned mental health reasons that keep me from the webcomic social sphere in general, but I thought I should mention here that today (May 13th) is apparently Webcomic Day! If you're looking for something to read and wanna drink from the hose a little maybe go check out the tag.

I'm sorry to all my friends who had to watch me fall for him, and hit every branch on the way down.

In a week, I'm gonna be proven wrong - but until then, I'm gonna hold my breath and pray he gets twisted beyond recognition.

I picked up these sconces for $10 from a pallet return ( looks like they were missing wirenuts, which I had anyway) and rewired them to plug into wall outlets. And I'm working on jury-rigging a picture rail system for this room using some chain and a curtain rod but I think I need to get significantly shorter mounting brackets than the ones that came with the rod. That or hang everything on two chains so it doesn't twist.

Still need to get to the crown molding and light fixture, but I'm in no hurry. This guest room gets little use, tbh. This was last week. Lighting makes a big difference!

Here's what the room looked like when I started, so even though progress is slow I'm still happ with the headway.

For all the diagonal bed haters, here's the logic. This room is really small--it's a little less than 10x10'. It's a guest room, so most of the time I spend in here is turning the room over: cleaning, changing bedding, resetting things. That means my first priority is ease of access to both sides of the bed. The bed can't sit flat against any wall with windows AND have access to both sides of the bed without overlapping the widows, which I hate. I could put it flat on the same wall that the door opens to but the vibes on that are atrocious; you step basically right into the headboard as soon as you enter and it's weird.

So the diagonal position means that I can access all sides of the bed easily, it doesn't overlap a window, and you walk towards it from the footboard as you enter.
