SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG! I got really sick and busy with school, but it’s been done! :) Congrats, everyone! We were able to raise this much money for the fundraiser and we couldn’t have done it without you all!

hey, just saying that I had a lot of fun working on my piece and that I really enjoyed this project. I too am disappointed that it didnt go as well as expected but you put a lot of work into it and the zine came out absolutely beautiful:) I also wanted to ask when we are allowed to post our pieces we drew for the zine? Should we wait until everyone got their zine or?

Hello!! Aaaaaaa I'm really glad, thank you so much for the message! You're allowed to post your pieces any time :) You don't have to wait for everyone to receive them!

Hello, anon! Thank you for your messages. I decided to just compile them into one post for easier reading!

To clarify, I’m really sorry that my previous post rubbed you the wrong way. I’d like to explain that yes, it was indeed entirely my fault that the project was not as successful as it could have been for all the reasons that you’ve stated above. The reason why I was left to do pretty much everything on my own was because of my own issues. (Tl;dr, being unsure if I could trust people to get things done, perfectionist complex, not wanting to boss people around too much, etc., which only led to more problems in the end!)

As for pricing, the prices were based off of other charity zine projects. I understand that it is quite expensive, but I didn’t want to undersell the artists by pricing the zine too cheaply. They did a fantastic job with their pieces! But yes, I understand that the pricing is also what put people off from buying.

I should have clarified this earlier in my previous post, so my apologies for not doing so—but ALTHOUGH this was a huge learning experience for me personally, it is extremely important for those who are planning on taking on projects of their own that everyone understands what the anon said regarding cost. Because we are handling money and products, learning isn’t an excuse to mishandle items, not get orders to people, etc.

However, you experience by doing—and you can’t experience things without ever getting started.

Once again, thank you for your advice! :) I hope you have a wonderful day!

As this project comes to an end...

I have a few words I’d like to say! Firstly, that ALL PAID-FOR ORDERS HAVE BEEN SHIPPED OUT AND ALL PUBLIC ORDERS HAVE BEEN SHIPPED OUT! We have 3 remaining unpaid invoices and are still waiting for a response. Until then, we will not send out your orders.

But that also means, this project is pretty much over!

Unfortunately, during the course of this project, I realised several things about project management and myself that led me to the conclusion that I probably will not be doing this again any time soon—at least, not until I have graduated college. I know we said that we plan on hosting another zine project next year—but I don’t think we will be able to :(

  1. As much as I enjoyed working on it, it took a lot longer than I expected to complete—which meant that I was working on this ALONGSIDE of schoolwork. Sadly, school is a priority, first and foremost.
  2. Although I recruited some admins, I ended up having to handle pretty much all of the work by myself. (e.g., organising, layouting, ordering, invoicing, packaging, shipping, etc. Thank you my dear buddy shub for helping me out with updating the Twitter and sending out a good chunk of the emails!) This is not their fault; it’s more of mine. If I organised a better team with more people where I live, and with roles spread out more evenly during the course of production, maybe this project wouldn’t have taken as long as it did.
  3. We didn’t receive as many orders as would have been satisfactory for a charity project. We received only 9 public orders. In hindsight, it’s a good thing we did—as my mom and I were the ones who had to pack them all up and mail them out, but for a project like this which took nearly a year to finish, the payoff wasn’t that great for all the effort we (artists included!) put into the project.

In conclusion, I still think that managing a project of this scale was A TON of valuable experience and I do encourage others to try a hand in participating or running their own! I will leave this blog up for anyone to send questions about my experiences with this, or even tips and suggestions for future projects! :)

Feel free to contact me through my personal art blog in the meantime! <3

Thank you for listening!

heads-up artists!

Here’s what’s going to happen for this weekend:

  1. All artists will receive invoices for their items by the end of this weekend.
  2. This is also your opportunity to change up your order if it’s too pricey for you! International shipping is super expensive and I’m sorry I live so far away! Just send us an email telling us what you would like changed.
  3. Any leftover merch I have on hand will be put up on our store so don’t worry about anything! :)
  4. We will only ship out your order once your invoice has been paid in full.

If you guys have any questions, please shoot them forward! <3

Anonymous asked:

Hope this is ok to ask, how much of the cost of the magazine will go towards the organization and how much are instead printing costs?

Printing cost is around 4 dollars for each zine! So for each zine that is purchased, 16 dollars will go to the organisation.

Avatar

I forgot to ask, will there be more sales after the Pre-orders go out or no more?

Avatar

There won’t be any more. Sorry! :( Once I have finished shipping everything out I will see if there are any leftover zines! If there are, then I will put those up!

invoices to artists

Hello artists! Sorry about the confusion, but this is to clarify that invoices will only be sent to artists once preorders close on June 30th. This is because we’re sending out an order for the merch all at once and prices will be different depending on the amount. Thanks for your patience, again!

Preorders will be closed on June 30th. We will begin shipping out orders at around the middle to the end of July.

Thank you for everyone who has supported this project up until now, whether you are a zine artist, merch artist, or someone who has been waiting for us to finish the final zine!

Thank you and Alola!
