peter p: but mr america sir, aren’t you technically only 33? are you sure you qualify for this?
steve, taking a senior citizen parking spot and claiming his 15th senior discount of the day: shut your mouth you’re like 5

broke - the team mocking steve for being ‘old’

woke - steve trying to get into a zoo for free because “fuck it i was born in 1918 I deserve the fucking seniors discount”

I mean yes sure he could just take the military discount and save just as much but it’s the principle of the thing dammit.

pool employee: sir, Mr. Captain America, this is a seniors water aerobics class.

steve: I was born in 1918 am I not a senior citizen?

exaspertated pool employee: yes, but why d-

steve: some of my friends are in this class just let me take it with them!

bucky, yelling, already in the pool: just let him in susan! you let me in!

One of the last scenes we were filming Gifted in was in a pound, a kennel. I foolishly walked in and I thought, ‘Are these actor dogs or are these real, up for adoption dogs?’ And sure enough they were, so I was walking up and down the aisles and saw this one dude and he didn’t belong there. I snagged him and he’s such a good dog. They aged him at about one, he acts like a puppy, he’s got the energy of a puppy, he’s just such a sweetheart, he’s such a good boy. He loves dogs, he loves kids, he’s full of love.

“I’m not here to speak, I’m sure as fuck not here to lecture anybody, but I will tell you what I have seen. And I have seen what happens when people organize, and I have seen what happens when the electorate and the citizenry know themselves and the sleeping dragon that they are, and I know what happens when they act and they act directly. I also know what happens when old pious men make laws about what women should and shouldn’t do. I know this ‘cause I’ve seen direct action from the very state that I hail from, the nation state which was created 100 years ago. And what I would say also, is just to remember where power lies and remind politicians where power lies, ‘cause the biggest thing they fear is losing their fucking jobs. And to men, also:  just be wary of any mentality that would make cattle or make vessels of women, because that same mentality will make machines and tools of you, and make monsters of you. Just remember where power is, just remember what the electorate can do.”

oh my god

my favorite part is that the guys just go along with it in spite of confusion/misgivings because they don’t want to miss out on stickers.

The last monarch of the Kingdom of Hawaii, Queen Liliʻuokalani, inherited the throne from her brother Kalākaua on January 29, 1891. A woman of peace and an accomplished author and songwrite, she became the first Native Hawaiian female author. Upon her death, Liliʻuokalani dictated in her will that all of her possessions and properties be sold and the money raised would go to the Queen Liliʻuokalani Children’s Trust to help orphaned and indigent children. The Queen Liliʻuokalani Trust Fund still exists today.
“Aloha ʻOe” (Farewell to Thee) is Queen Liliʻuokalani’s (Hawaii’s last monarch) most famous song and a song commonly sung at High School graduations and other important events. The story of the origin of the song has several variations. They all have in common that the song was inspired by a notable farewell embrace given by Colonel James Harbottle Boyd during a horseback trip taken by Princess Liliʻuokalani in 1877 or 1878 to the Boyd ranch in Maunawili on the windward side of Oʻahu. Originally written as a lovers’ good-bye, the song came to be regarded as a symbol of, and lament for, the loss of her country.

The version of this story I read years ago (out of curiosity for the song’s use in Lilo & Stitch when Nani was forced to give up Lilo…) was so unbelievably cut down, it made it seem like her failing, rather than all these odds stacked up against her. Thank you for all the further context. ;_;

You’ve seen this, right?

It’s the first trailer, to give people unfamiliar with the show an introduction to Crowley and Aziraphale.

It would be nice if it were delayed until after the election, but I have no faith in the current democratic congressional clusterfuck to even attempt it.

If he delays until after election it will only be because he thinks that would allow Republicans keep the majority.  If it didn’t work than he’d ram it through before the new people were swore in.

guys, even if Schumer could pull it off…he can’t, he isn’t the senate majority leader. Mitch could pull that shit because he was in the majority, dems are in the minority, even if Schumer wanted too, he could’t, the only hope is republican defections (unlikely) mcCain or some other republican not being able to show up for a vote (not something bet on) or some obscure senate rule taht allows the Senate to waste Mitch’s time for 2 ½ months.

There is a Senate rule that could help if they manage to keep all the democrats on board and get one republican to not show up. To confirm a justice they need a quorum (51 senators). So... if only 50 senators show up, then they literally can’t do it. Democrats hold 49 seats (along with two independents). And the Democrats just have to pull out the same line McConnell did with Obama. Let the people decide.

important facts about community college

- just as much of a quality education as you would get at a state school or uni

- much more affordable

- usually more night classes that make going to school while working and/or taking care of kids much easier

- transfer students actually have a higher graduation rate than students who have been at a university all 4 years

- there is nothing wrong with aspiring to go to a community college

- there is nothing wrong with being proud of attending a community college

- there is absolutely nothing wrong with community college

At least at the community colleges in the University of Hawaii system, the class sizes are a lot smaller in the intro classes. You’ll have Intro to College English with 20 others instead of 200, so it’s easier to get individual attention and more likely that your instructors/professors will actually know who you are.

Our system alsohas a program specifically for students anticipating a transfer to the university, so you get an transfer advisor and you get connected to an advisor in your major when you transfer. It’s a lot easier than going through the full four years at the university.

What retirement? My parents are probably going to work until they physically cannot anymore or I or my siblings can (somehow) afford to take care of them on top of (hopefully) our own families. So, what? How much longer am I supposed to work? After I'm too senile to be able to live on my own? After I can't walk without assistance? After I'm dead? Come on.

Meet the lesbian witches who are about to become your new TV obsession

PinkNews May 10, 2018

Two lesbian witches are about to take over your TV – and we’re so here for it.
A Discovery of Witches, which is coming to Sky 1 later this year, will feature Sarah Bishop, a powerful lesbian witch played by Doctor Who and Arrow star Alex Kingston. Together with her partner, another witch called Emily Mather, Sarah raises her niece Diana, teaching her how to use her powers to fight in a centuries-old struggle between supernatural beings.

Diana Bishop (Sky 1)

The show, which is based on Deborah Harkness’s bestselling book of the same name, will also include enigmatic geneticist and vampire Matthew Clairmont, played by Downton Abbey‘s Matthew Goode.
Jane Tranter, executive producer of the Bad Wolf production company, said: “A Discovery of Witches is a bold contemporary love story beautifully adapted by Kate Brooke from the books by Deborah Harkness.
“We can’t wait to introduce fans of the novels to our cast and to bring in a whole new audience to these extraordinary stories.”

Matthew Goode and Teresa Palmer (Sky 1)

*That’s not Alex Kingston’s Twitter handle.

@sasskarian I’m sending you the books when I get back with my trip goodies. I... think you will like them?
