This is an artist-only zine about the game A3! (Act! Addicts! Actors!). There isn’t a set theme so you’re free to draw anything involving the A3 boys and Izumi!
Yes! This is a for-profit zine. Each artist will get a bundle version of it (including all merchandises) + after covering the printing cost, the remaining money will be split equally between all contributors. If you are planning on working as an artist-writer duo for comics, please note that you won’t get a bigger share of the profits (the duo will still be counted as one contributor).
- Will it be possible for selected artists to buy extra copies at printing price for sale at local conventions and/or online?
As I want to split profits equally among all artists, I will be handling all the sales.
- When will the applications open ?
The form for the applications will be open on August 4th, and will last until August 26th.
- How many applications are you going to accept ?
I was planning on accepting about 12 artists, but if there is a great number of applications I will consider adding more.
- What are the portfolio requirements ?
It doesn’t have to be extravagant, just a gallery or art tag will do ! I’ll simply ask you to have more than one example of your recent work on it.
Please note that I’ll also ask you to select three drawings of yours that you consider the best, it will help me reviewing the applications!
- I’ve never participated in a zine before, is it okay for me to apply ?
You’re welcome to apply! There’s always a first time in everything.
- How will I know if I’m selected ?
I’ll send out mails to all the applicant artists, whether they are selected or not. A list of all the selected artists will be up once I finish deliberating!
- Is traditional art allowed ?
Yes of course! As long as you can provide a properly scanned version of your illustration, in 300 DPI and the right canvas size.
- What is the rating of the zine?
The zine is aimed at all public so any explicit content (sex, horror, crime, cruelty, violence, offensive language or self-harm) won’t be accepted. Ships are allowed though!
The zine will be printed in A5 format (148mm x 210mm) portrait, and templates will be provided for the contributors via email. Basically each person will be able to use 2 pages freely! You can contribute with illustrations or comics, but if you only take one page it’s also fine.
Landscape or portrait format are accepted ! But if you do one landscape illustration you won’t be able to add more.
I haven’t defined all the merchandise yet but for now I was thinking of doing small prints and stickers (maybe a keychain too). I’ll ask all participating artists if they want to make the art for these, however please note that it won’t earn you an extra cut of the profit if there is.
